I saw these posted on another forum. Looks like it might be easier to install since they use the same housing, but I don't know if the appropriate resistance is built in. The company seems to imply that they are plug and play. I, myself, ordered Yamaha LED's, for those of you who want to try this option, it is much less cost.

Does anyone know if the Yamaha LED signals are/will be available in the US?

I don't think they are available in the U.S., yet. I ordered mine from Yamabits in U.K., but they did not arrive, yet. My credit card was charged, so I hope they get here before the bike does. BTW, Yamabits also has the tank pad.

When we had our display S10 here last week the Yamaha rep was explaining that these are Euro units with USA body panels. He said a few items would be changed on ours, including the turn signals. He said the USA ones would be bigger. Which leads me to the question of why some of our S10 owning friends overseas changed theirs to LED? If it was for better visibility and we will have bigger signals, would that suffice? Personally I have never seen the need to change turn signals, except on my Superhawk, where I put flush mounts on strictly for cosmetic purposes. Heck, I even had the wheels chromed on that bike, just for bling. ;D

So, are you all changing to LED signals for visibility, lower power consumption (minor consideration) or bling, or?

Thanks

I've still got the OEM indicators on mine and they are CHEAP . Built down to a price and not very well made. Knocked a lens off a rear one without even noticing I'd nudged it. The Yam accessory ones seem pricey but from having looked at a long list of LED indicators (mostly off ebay/local bike shops) I'd say they are the best of the best and come with the necessary spacers/shims required to fit which others will likely be missing. I've not yet got around to sorting out getting a set but will do shortly from my local dealer most probably.

It's just bling, really. I think it was BMW over here who started the nonsense of charging extra for LED indicators on a > £10k bike (I'm not aware of any type approval issues preventing fitment as standard in the UK). The standard indicators fitted to the S10 in the EU are the same as on all other Yamahas from the lowly EC-03 electric bike all the way up to the R1. That's economies of scale for you.

I, personally, plan to change mine for visibility. I do all that I can to improve my visibility when riding on the street. There are a lot of elderly cage drivers in Florida and I find myself dodging them every now and then. When I ride through my little downtown area with my flashers on because I have had too many of them pull out in front of me.

Hi Paul,

I agree that increased visibility is important, especially in urban areas,as where you live. My question is that if our blinkers will be bigger than those fitted in the rest of the world, will they provide better visibility and if so, will they be comparable to the LED units.

I am going to take a wait and see attitude on these and evaluate what ours look like when they get here.

On a related subject the Yamaha rep said he hopes our mufflers are the same, as the examples on the display units had a bit of a growl to them. He cited an example of the R1's, where the USA units didn't have as good a sound as the Euro units.

Fred, yes, I agree. The bigger signals will definitely be better, and I know that I probably wouldn't change them if I didn't have them on hand and ready to change them the day I get the bike. It is the extra brightness of the LED's that I am interested in, but you are right, it really won't be THAT big of a difference.

As for the muffler? I have already pulled the trigger on the motorrad carbon muffler. When Wasp posted the video of that one, I was hypnotized by the sound.

Yeah, Wasp's muffler will probably be on my long range farkle list. Got to get bags and bars and probably Wasp's adjustable screen bracket first. Already have a first class skid plate, thanks to Twisted Throttle's Jan 1 giveaway on this forum. ;D

A bit of each, for me. Not my highest priority, just considering them.

Has anyone found a dealer in the states that sells the OEM LED signals? I saw that I can order from Yamabits but reluctant due to price and money conversion charges.

Devin, I purchased two pair from Yamabits. I can't remember exactly, but it somewhere around $100 total, including shipping. It took about 4 weeks for them to arrive.

Well that is reasonable. I thought they were much more. I will check with them. Thanks for the heads up.

I would be inclined to wait and see how bright/visible the US DOT versions are before changing them out.
