I'm thrilled with willingness of the-mother-of-my-children to perch herself on the passenger seat and adventure with me! :p

Of the MANY bikes I have owned during our 30 year marriage, this is the only one she asks ME: "You wanna take the bike?"

However, she does complain about some pain in her knees after a long stint. She says she only needs a couple of inches added to the distance to her pegs for it to take the bind out of her joints. I hope she is right.

So, you guys have managed to figured out an answer to every single complaint about this bike........that applies to me anyways.
Wind buffeting.......check
Handle bar location/brake & clutch lines.........check

I already know I'm not the only fella with the same request from his missus. So the motion has been seconded. :)

Cheers

I would think it much more effective to add a pad of some sort to raise the pillion seat rather then mod the peg mount lower???

What about aftermarket pegs that have a height adjustment option? Put that together with an airhawk and you might get the needed distance.

Eye-balling it, it looks like it would fit. The function may not be the same though. The front pegs are spring loaded so the pivot point of the peg is narrowed to accommodate the spring. Washers should fill up the space if it was a problem. The angle appears to be the same and the overall width of the attachment point appears to be the same size.

If you really want an answer without dropping cash, see if you can move your main pegs to the pillion postition. If they fit, then you know the aftermarket ones will probably fit as well.

My $0.02.

And they're only a 15mm drop, half an inch there-a-bouts. A nice change for the driver, prolly not enough for the passenger.

I worked with these folks to prototype some lowered rider pegs for my NT700V. http://www.knightdesignllc.com/

The pegs turned out very nice, fit well, worked well. They made them in 1" and 2" lower sizes. I had the 1" version.

I bet they could make a pillion peg to fit the Super Tenere. Someone who wants to buy them, should contact them and ask. Since it's a pillion peg you might even persuade them to drop them more than the 2" they offer for their rider pegs.

I think that moving the pegs down would be better than moving the seat up. Moving the seat up will cause more wind to buffet the passenger. And raising the passenger's center of gravity will make it harder for the rider to manage the bike.

I was disappointed, too - I thought the post might be relevant to me, but instead it's about pillion passengers. ::26::

That's funny. But if you are an ST pilot, you don't have short legs!
In fact, I used you to torment my buddy who admitted he couldn't "reach" on mine, and therefore picked up a strom.

So tell us........you got that seat at standard or low position? Regardless, you are my hero. :)

Poster is in color. Movie wasn't. As a 6 or 7 year old, I sat in awe in front of the TV every bit as much as later generations did for Star Wars.

I forgot how long her legs were though.

It's in the higher position. And I can still flat foot the bike with my knees bent. :)

I love how tall the Super10 is, it's so roomy and comfortable. After 5000 miles on the Super Tenere I took a brief ride on the TDM and I couldn't believe how short it was! When did the TDM seat get so low? The Super10 better last me a long time because I tell ya I am being spoiled for life!

Not only short, but low!

Sounds like your TDM might be leaving the garage for good. They are a great bike, loved mine, but the ST is just......GREAT!
