Americans shoot themselves in the foot every time!
I don't know who started Jetboil, but,
companies go to China to have their products made, cause its cheap labor. China copies the product and sells it for half the price or less, (they didn't have to do R&D, market research, ect.....) and we flock to that cheaper product.
Mind you, nowadays its cheaper in price and probably just as good too!
Harbor Freight is one outlet like this. They are introducing new products all the time and quality it always getting better and better.
Not bitching at anybody as I do the same. Just making a sad commentary......

I understand perfectly..
What is this country that once produced stuff that to this day is still working going to do?
A GE electric motor from the 40's i have with a grinding wheel on it my late father gave me when they down sized just keeps going.
Coleman was the U.S. outdoor manufacturer for decades, they produced great stuff but didn't get to involved with much new ideas.
You can't even give a Coleman two burner stove away these days, the damn things keep going.
Now it's not even worth building anymore.

Let me know how it works 10 years from now. I see these copycat products come up every once in a while. They are hit and miss as far as quality. Just by looking at the pics I can tell the durability of this product is lacking.

I'm pretty sure Jet Boil is manufactured in China. So says the interweb.

On a positive note i have been looking for some updated camping gear and craigslist if packed with good stuff.

The Fire Maple X3 has worked flawlessly for me. Features, construction, and materials are of similar quality as the Jetboil Flash, has a better handle and it was about half the price. That said, either one is an indispensable trip tool. Although I've transitioned from tents to hotels there's no replacing those meals or hot cups taken at just the right place and time.
