Howdy Folks ,
My wife and I traded in our 1998 GL1500SE Goldwing for a 2012 YST. I grew up on Dual Sports and it's always been my favorite form of riding. The Goldwing was a great looking bike , but for a tall guy like me it was very uncomfortable riding it with my feet on the floor boards , my knees were bent so far back I couldn't lift my toe to tap the rear brakes , I had to lift my whole foot and put my heal on the heal rest to be able to use the rear break. Same goes for the other side , I couldn't lift my toe to shift into 1st gear. I was comfortable enough riding on the interstates with my feet on the highway pegs , but we do a lot of riding through the mountains and canyons where you need full control of your bike and can't ride with your feet on the highway pegs. The Goldwing also felt like you were riding a bus around town. It was to big and heavy for in town riding.
The YST with the seat in the High position has more leg room than my old Goldwing. ( new wings aren't much better , I sat on a brand new one a week ago and had the same issue with the bent knees ). It feels real good to get back on a Dual Sport. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy this bike a lot !!
Nice to meet everyone.

JT

You live near some of the best roads and scenery the U.S. has to offer.

Greetings from DC!! I had a GL1500 as well, some of the same issues plus I didn't much care for city riding at all. The ST is not the cruiser that that the GL is, but I seem to be having more fun for some reason ::001:: Enjoy!

Welcome JTWY. Long legs are the reason I decided on the S10 too. It's a great fit for men of distinguished height.

Thanks Guys ,
I am a lot happier on the YST than I was on the Wing. I just took my wife for a putt on the YST and she says she's comfortable on it but would like a backrest , so I will have to get one for her. The YST is 242 pounds lighter than my old wing , that's like taking me right off the bike. ( I do miss the automatic turn signal shut off and the cruise control though )
I'm happy to find this group of like minded riders. There is lot of great information on this site that will be very helpful when I start adding accessories to our bike. I'm still trying to get used to where everything is and how to find stuff on this site , so please bare with me.
Have a Blessed day everyone.

We sure do Bob . I moved here 13+ years ( from Rhode Island ) ago and never looked back. My wife and I love it here. I just bought a book called: "WYOMING BACKROADS" An off-highway guide to Wyoming's best backcountry drives , 4 WD routes and ATV trails. This will come in handy when out exploring on the YST.
Nice to meet ya.

Welcome from Pennsylvania. I was just in Sheridan in July. I rode my Tenere there from PA. I stopped at the brewery and enjoyed some of their beverages. I forget the name; is it Black Tooth? It seems to me there was a black tooth ale. Anyway, welcome to the forum. Sheridan is a fine area and I try to get there as often as I can. I love staying at the Occidential in Buffalo.
