So far I have ordered and received the large CalSci windscreen, 2 pair of Yamaha LED flashers, and a pair of 500/600hz horns. I have also ordered the Givi PLR367 side case rach and a pair of Givi E21N side cases.

I am on the fence about the Wasp catback carbon muffler. I really like the sound. It reminds me of the sound achieved when me and my dirt bike riding buddies used to remove the baffles from our stock tail pipes when I was younger. I will agonize about it for awhile and then I'll probably pull the trigger on it sooner or later.

Paul, I am looking forward to the sound for sure. i don't usually do the pipe thing, but this is really great sounding. I am holding off ordering side bags in exchange for the pipe. Yippie!!

Jeff, do you plan to paint it? or just leave it stainless? Wasp ships them in raw stainless. I think it looks great black, but stainless would look good, too and it would not show scratches as well. The other option is to have it coated in ceramic, but I'm guessing that would add $$$.

paul, i am going to paint it for sure. In time, I am going to have the rear section pieces (subframe, passenger pegs) powder coated in some time.

After reading about the different options and accessories that we "NEED" for this bike. I figure every night for a week or more to get it ready. Ride during the day, wrench at night.

Hey HoebSTer,

I agree on the OEM guard....doesn't look to me like it gives full protection.

I'm leaning towards the ADV bars myself....the TT bars seem to protect the top, at the expense of the engine...where the ADV bars seem to have better protection across the bike. I also like their engineering thought, spreading the impact across six mounting points.

Would love to hear comments from our friends across the oceans who may have already installed one or the other.

Anthony

What are the ADV bars? I don't think I have seen them.

When you mention the TT bars, are you talking about the SW-Motech bars that Twisted Throttle sells?

Thanks

I think he means AltRider bars and Touratech bars. The touratech bars were shown from a vid capture by Wasp on the thread over on AdvRider.

The TT bars look nice but will be pricey.

Speaking of options. Have you seen the Givi bars?
Great price at $144 but surely not as strong as Alt or TT.

I'm still waiting from Givi as to how serviceable the side panels are with their bars. From all they have told me so far, you will still need to remove parts of the setup - but not the entire setup - to gain access.

Received my HDB top clamp today, and a partial order from AltRider (sidestand foot and Givi kit for rear rack). These go on the shelf with the WaspWorks windshield adjuster and the PowerBronze front fender extender.

I'm trying to space out the purchases so they don't all hit on the same credit card bill ???

The big ones still to order are Givi Trekkers and some TwistedThrottle items (SW-Motech rack, Bags Connection tankbag, etc.).

I bought a pack of the TechSpec sheet for custom cutting. Pricey but really good.
I have the pre-cut ones on my FJR and love them! I also used the "generic" sheets and made my own for my KLR and plan to do the same for the SuperT. Looks like they have a generic kit for Yamaha that includes the center tank pro. Is this the kit you bought - or just the two sheets for the sides?

Fitted to date:

  • OEM Panniers
    Yamaha Low seat
Waspworks adjustable screen bracket (I won't be needing to change the screen)
    SW Motech Skid Plate
    Bags Connection GS Tankbag
    Powerlet Tankbag electrification kit
    SW Motech bar risers
    Kaoko throttle lock
    RAM Handlebar mount

To come:

  • AltRider crashbars (in Stainless to match the silver side panels)
With winter just around the corner, Heated grips of some sort. Most likely VSM grip heaters like the last few bikes

Also needed:

  • A rear rack in Gearsack style with a loop for mounting a bag, dont want Ventura as they are a bit flimsy, will probably have to make this one

Considering a pipe, but not really required. Will sit and see whats available in the end, don't want carbon fibre.

I have tried brushed Ally and polished Stainless on my bike and I chose to go with the Carbon muffler in my kit, first for the looks, secondarily for the amazing deep tone only a well packed carbon muffler can offer, third for the low radiant heat carbon puts out, and finally for the light weight.
I am obviously biased but I believe this is the nicest looking and most aesthetically correct looking muffler for our bikes, regardless of color... I made it that way ::)

Remember, I said I BELIEVE = Mine is just another opinion.

Greg.
