What really bothers me is the division threads like this create amongst a group of good guys that share a common interest in motorcycles.

The lack of moderation is apparent. Opinions and political discussion are ok as long as it goes the way of the moderator view.

The whole political landscape in the US is corrupt. You can’t see the bias of the mainstream media?

If we had term limits for ALL politicians. We might have something to celebrate. It has gone from service for the people to personal power and political schemes.
The world over in %ages and getting worse. When 50 or so of the world's richest billionaire individuals have the the same amount of wealth as the thirds poorest/destitute, you know the wind is right for few and the austere doldrums await the many...

Moderators do not censor opinions or beliefs. They only act as a peacekeeper to prevent personal attacks and try to maintain civility in the thread. Discussion/debate can be healthy but on the internet is typically futile.

Has CW moderated to self serve his opinions? I don't believe so or at least I have not seen it yet. I see both sides evenly represented here for the most part.

As mentioned before, this thread began when members kept injecting politics in other threads. With the January 6 riot we needed an outlet somewhere, so here it is. After today's inauguration this thread will hopefully fade like the gun thread did.

As for moderation, most of us have been here together for years. From the times we mods have done much trimming, we've learned that for the most part less is better and that is reflected in the basic ground rules in the second post of this thread. Basically, respect others and don't attack them, which has been done here and that's not just the moderator's view, it's a basis for the forum.

As for division, just in the last few posts you can see madhatter and I disagree, yet sincerely offer to buy each other beers. Sierra and I are on opposite sides of the politics today but I'm looking forward to when I can shake hands with a guy I feel like I've come to know and like. Dirt_Dad and I always talk about the friends we've made through this forum and party never is part of it.

+1
Can't agree with you more.

So you get a guy you really like and he has to leave office in 4 years anyway? Why not keep him until you vote him out?

Fixed terms only benefit those who don’t like the incumbent

Political positions should be about service to the people.

If you ask why we need term limits, just look at Pelosi, Shumer, or McConnell.

If Someone did such a great job as a politician, let them run in some other capacities. Some have been in office for so long they have nothing in common with the very people they are there to represent.

see y'all on the non political channels ...... will check back here in a few months to see how things are .
Don't need to wait. It's happening as I type this. New administration has walls and borders being left unguarded, and borders open with zero restrictions today. Travel bans for international flights have all been lifted. Muslim terrorists are being welcomed back in the country.

Also COVID vaccines are being made available immediately for homeless and death row inmates while hard working Americans who pay taxes will have to wait.

Might also add big tech China and jobs are being moved overseas. The new Commander And Chiefs son will be spearheading helping the drug flow and sex slaves back into our country.

Life is good. Freedom at last!!

As of tomorrow, the STATE of New York can finally file their tax fraud and racketeering organized crime (RICO) charges.
May Donald J. Trump and his kids spend the rest of their time in Court, broken financially, and hopefully jail.
Bob,

Every point you made can be debated on its veracity, not very thing is black or white, but I won't engage in that exercise.

A political opinion is like an a**hole, everyone has one but my 98 year old Mother taught me long ago that it's not polite to go around showing it to everyone.

What does surprise me is the animus you display in your comments about Trump and his kids. I can see what side of the political spectrum you are on but what ever happened to a presumption of innocence? You accuse Trump of trampling on the Constitution but your statement does the exact same thing. Really, I would have expected more from someone who has spent his career as an OBJECTIVE??? Investigator.

IMHO, political discussions don't belong on this forum because they are so corrosive.

The absence of term limits in Congress is the reason why we end up with pieces of shit like Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, and Mitch McConnell sucking the public teat, compiling wealth from lobbyists, and making policy that benefits said lobbyists for almost 50 years each (respectively). Fresh blood is a good thing, sadly the implementation of term limits is fully in the hands of those reaping the benefits. Thank God the POTUS is limited to 2 terms.

It's like making coffee and never changing the grinds. Gets weaker and weaker. Looks like the founding fathers did a swing and a miss on this.

I have the totally opposite view, in that today is the day ending:

The end of a would-be despot who equated himself with God in having the balls to say "Maybe I am the chosen one"
A narcissist saying that he was above the law more than once,
Who killed more Americans than Osama bin Laden by his lies and inactions about COVID between January and March.
Who openly and through sedition created an unprecedented and pre-meditated attack on Congress.
Which led to Trump being the first President EVER impeached twice.
After being sown to have NO basis through loss of 60+ Court cases that 50 separate State and territorial elections were fraudulent.
Who trampled the Constitution, most recently in trying to restrict the press and internet,
Trying to deny the Constitutional rights to a number of groups, before fortunately being rebuffed by the Supreme Court more than once.
Trying to deny citizenship to those born here, which is also a Constitutional right.
Who openly aided the Russians numerous times.
For example in giving them Syria. But then he also gave Iraq to Iran.
Started and then lost the wars in both trade and influence to China,
Unilateral withdrawal from Afghanistan, in other words surrendering,
Set our economy up for the coming fall with the biggest borrowing and debt of any President, going even beyond Obama.
This is after inheriting a strong economy with a debt that was flattening.
An open rape of the US Treasury every chance he and his supporters could.
HE may have "stepped aside" from his business and donated his $400k salary but his companies have made FAR more than that with charges WE have been paying, if just for Secret Service.
The list goes on, but the bottom line was the headline TRUMP HAS LEFT THE WHITE HOUSE.

As of tomorrow, the STATE of New York can finally file their tax fraud and racketeering organized crime (RICO) charges.
May Donald J. Trump and his kids spend the rest of their time in Court, broken financially, and hopefully jail.

But that's just my personal view and I have no problem in anybody else feeling different.
I must have missed where Trump told his supporters to violently attack the capital. Can you share that statement. Where were those 20k troops when they were burning and stealing everything they could a few months ago?

Fireworks have "light the blue touchpaper and STAND WELL BACK" - you are correct, but I believe he knew what he was doing. A dog/stick/poke moment that I saw coming from his remarks a week or so earlier - although it did go further than I thought because of the lack of backup from... and here we are again...

Nope. My wife's father got shot and killed when she was 10. Her younger brother was standing next to him and is traumatised to this day. He was shot over a chicken that he was going to give away free to the very same person that shot him.

So, no it is not perfect... and politricks here is a blood sport and best avoided.

But surely these people keep getting elected? So loads of people must think they are doing a great job? Seems to me that fixed term is just a way for those minority who don’t like them can be assured they will go soon.

How will you feel when you finally get someone you really like and trust elected and they continue to do a great job with integrity and honour right up to the end and then get kicked out no matter how well they have done? Doesn’t make sense.
