One thing about adjusting the ES suspension that took me about a year to finally figure out is that in order to adjust the preload the bike needs to be running and in neutral, it also says it’s supposed to be on the centerstand but mine seems to adjust fine without being on the centerstand. All this information is listed on page 4-35 through 4-39 of the 2018 owners manual.
Once I figured out the bike was supposed to be running my side stand being to long issue was 100% cured by simply raising the preload.

Yup, I do all that and it is still too tall.

Just swapped back to the original alloy side stand. Managed not to fire the springs across the garage this time when refitting them!! I will now search out a decent welder and get the foot cut off the steel stand and welded back on so it is slightly shorter. Maybe get a slightly bigger foot on it at the same time for soft ground.

Yeah, my 14 ES set for two up with luggage is spongy on the side stand as well.

Triple checked that the preload collar was moving, and it clearly is, so I'm sure it's set properly.

Still way too much sag, I've been trying to find out more about how the preload adjuster works, think I'm gonna take the shock off the bike and take it apart, see if there's a fault in it.
