Most of the oil pressure switches I’ve seen switch at really low pressure like 3-4 PSI. They won’t activate until the oil pickup starts pulling air. By then the damage is probably done. In the example of a busted sump, a level light will give you a much earlier heads up, as there will be several quarts still left, and system oil pressure has not likely yet been affected, when it illuminates. I’ll take a level light first all day every day.

Talking about 2 stroke oils and 4 stroke oils is apples to oranges. It doesn’t matter how good of an oil your running on a 2 stroke if you are too lean you WILL burn down. The incoming fuel is a big factor on cooling.

It is the same exact thing. Oil is oil. If you lose lubricity bad things happen. A water cooled motor regardless if 2T or 4T will burn up sooner with a non ester based oil if there is no water in the jackets.

Interesting. I had no idea. Good to know.

Welcome from Texas. I see you found one of our oil threads. :D
It is something to be said that we don't have to chatter about drive shaft failures!!
