I hear it's going to be a heavy commuter bike disguised as a big dirt bike. ;D

I expect BNG and improved ecu programming. Always the possibility of a neat new feature like LED headlights since that's all the rage but otherwise unchanged. Yamaha tends to go at least 3 years between refreshes on the popular models, more so on the others. I think this falls in "the others" category.

Probably another year of the 2016 with different colors. Unless I'm missing some re-design announcement. Whatever it is, you'll sell it in a year and buy a BMW, then come back here and tell everyone how much better it is. ::013::

After seeing the updates on the new FJR, this is my feelings as well. I believe we'll see LED headlights and perhaps the cornering lights on the new Tenere. It would be nice if the LED headlights were transferable to the older models as I'd like to have them on my bike.

Well, well, well, look who posted! LOL
Yup still alive and commuting! (Man some of you guys can really hold a grudge). ::025::

The latest offerings from other manufactures haven't really moved my moto-emotions. I look around and just see tiny improvments from what I allready have. The 2014 Tenere' updates were what should have been in 2012 but my 4 year old Tenere' still gets the job done just fine. I was hoping Yamaha was getting ready to raise the 3 year commuter bar.

After the success of the 900 triples, my understanding was that Yamaha might look at a 1200 triple design for the S10, in a lighter weight chassis.

It's got to be a year or two down the road, if it ever happens, as the Adventure market has been gifted to the GS thus far, so they won't want to get it wrong. My hope is that, if they go this way, they will retain shaft drive & tubeless. Meantime, I guess it will be 'warm-overs' & colour changes sadly.

Seems to be a common thread on this forum (not sure if this happens on all the other branded advbike forums), where former S10 owners come back after trading a GS and go on about how much better it is.

Read this today about the AT (from one of our EX- Tenere' friends, I won't say who). Like most first time rides it's a bit over the top but I would say the AT will top the current offerings in a lot of categories.

The AT has exceeded my expectations in every way. Motor, DCT, suspension, handling, brakes, headlights.

When you see the AT it looks big, but when you sit on it somehow it shrinks to about the size of a 400cc bike. That combined with its low CoG and you feel like you can toss it around really easily. It never feels like a big heavy bike.

The motor is super smooth and puts out decent torque and power. It also spins up very quickly and the throttle is light so it feels pretty effortless to ride quickly.

The DCT works great. Lots of modes to choose from depending on how relaxed/aggressive you want to ride and the way it senses you braking and downshifts at the same time to provide engine braking as well as power coming out of corners is awesome. Manual is great for really aggressive corner carving as you can choose exactly when you want to shift rather than have the DCT brain decide and it shifts so quickly you can do it at any time even leaned over mid corner.

The suspension works amazingly well, soft enough to soak up all the bumps yet firm enough to keep handling precise even at very high speeds over twisty bumpy roads.

The brakes are very progressive and powerful. They aren't linked like the S10's so you do have to get used to applying the rear independently again.

I had my doubts about the led headlights given their size but they turned out to be the best I've had on any bike. The low beam lights up a very large area in front of the bike, and the high beam goes way out in the distance. Bike mag rated them better than the 12GS's led headlight, which is also very bright.

The handing is maybe the biggest surprise. I spent all day yesterday on twisty back roads and the AT railed through them like a sport bike. It's incredibly easy to ride very fast. I can go much faster on it than I could on my S10, despite the Yamaha having a much more powerful motor (flashed with a full aftermarket exhaust and power commander). The Yamaha feels/rides like a much larger, heavier bike in comparison.

I've only done a little gravel on it, but so far so good. Again, because it feels small and light, it's easy to control.

Adventure is such a subjective term for a category of motorcycle.

I keep thinking they're gonna put the FJ09 triple in an ADV type bike very soon. Hopefully a tubeless shaftie with all the electronic goodies and 100 less pounds than an S10.
