Over the years I’ve replaced SO MANY customer rear disc it’s kinda a joke. I use to have a stack of rear disc at the shop until one day took them to the recycling center. I have a few customers on there forth rear disc.
Anyhow, the time has come for my bike to get a new rear disc and I wanted to try the Galfer to see if we can get more mileage out of it. I can pass this info onto others here on the forum or at the shop.
I looked all over google to see what the Galfer looks like on the back of the Tenere. I could never find one photo.
Anyhow, as time goes on I’ll report back in and ultimately total miles on the Galfer as a good comparison. For anyone that wants to know what it looks like here it is. Probably the only photos. Lol
The disc appeared to be slightly thicker than stock and I went with semi metallic pads.

Looks nice :)
But isn't the OEM Galfer?
I can't see it on the rear, but on the front it says "Licensed by Galfer"

The design is licensed for copyright. It doesn't say who made it. Probably Yamaha themselves, or a Japanese brake manufacturer like Tokico or Nissin.

Thank you for that Jaxon!! My plan is to wear out my discs over the course of a few pad changes. Then I'll be going with a full Galfer braided line kit with disks and brake pads.

Where did you get it and how much?

From Galfer. I think it was like $160'ish. The stock you can find for about 110'ish. If the Galfer last longer, then the few extra bucks will be worth it. Strange thing is the Galfer pads are less money. (if I remember correctly).

Ive changed out so many rear discs on customers Teneres, there has to be a better lasting one.

I’m pretty new to the tenere, I bought a used '13 last May. The rear disc is toast after about 60000km. Judging by your comment about having changed many rears, do you have a theory why?

Im just assuming that the metal of the disc is much softer. Not sure why they wear so much faster than the front but they do. Just keep an eye out on the pads and disc over each 20/30K miles. Check every time you change tires. :)
