Hi all, wondering if anyone has any ignition stick coils (23p-82310-00) laying about that they would sell and ship to New Zealand? Alternatively I have a USA forwarding address in Portland Oregon.
Changed my spark plugs today and one coil has been tracking out the top of the lower silicone boot. It’s damaged the insulator plastic and actually melted a hole towards the central metal cap.
The NZ$ from the dealer is $300 ex Australia each ...$200 NZD partzilla!
I’d be happy with a good second hand one.

I’ve heard there are cheaper aftermarket coil sticks available on eBay or Amazon, not sure which. Maybe a search of this site will turn up the source?

I found a thread with a few good leads but now showing nil stock. Partzilla looks like the cheapest at this stage.

Mike, how did you get on with the coil stick. I dropped a cylinder on the weekend in a heavy rain ride, and traced it back to electrical. #3 and#4 coil sticks showing corrosion, but new plugs and a clean up and I'm sorted. I've got some second hand coil sticks coming from UK and have ordered 4 new ones from RM Stator,Europe for $291 nzd landed. Long story short(ish),RM sticks are on back order, seems like no one has any on hand for a reasonable price. The UK sticks should arrive in 2 weeks approximately. If you can hang on that long, you can have one of my slightly corroded, but perfectly operating sticks. They are in fully operational condition, just a little corroded on the steel sleeve.

Hi Beastie, thanks for the offer but I’m sorted. Went through Partzilla in the end. They had them in stock for just over $200 landed.
It’s a shame Yamaha didn’t put more of a raised lip on the spark plug hole as the rocker cover acts like a funnel for water and the upper coil seal has breathing slots which doesn’t help things.
I put mine in with hylomar on the upper lip to try and keep water out. Time will tell if it helps.

Yeah mate,I agree with you about the poor design.
Not going to complain yet though. My bike has 85k on it and possibly the original coils.
They came out fine,as did the under tightened plugs, and it ran 15kms or so on 1 pot,to get me home.
I'm going to try some inox mx7 or di-electric grease when the new sticks arrive, hopefully that works.
Keep in mind,I'll have spares on hand if you have further issues.

I will keep that in mind thanks. You’ve probably already done it but might pay pay to change the oil as that cylinder would have been well and truly washed if it was totally dead for 15k.

Oil dropped today mate. Cylinder was totally dead for probably 3 or 4 kms tops. Oil came out good, only had 800kms in it. Not thin and no more fuelled smell than normal. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for pointing that out,in my excitement at it's return to form,I completely forgot about the ramifications of a non functioning pot.

All good. I made the big mistake of firing mine up for a friend to hear and then switched off without warming it up. Tried to start it the next day and it flooded.
Those injectors chuck a fair amount of fuel in I can tell you.
I had to pull the EFI fuse and crank it to clear the cylinders in the end as the WOT trick doesn’t work when it’s -2C and they are heavily flooded.

I just did the o-ring mod as well. 8 x Viton O-rings = $52.27c nz. Bloke at Shuk's felt sorry for me and charged $43.28c. $5.41 per o-ring,very reasonable. Throw in $45 for a not so large can of di-electric grease. BARGAIN.
