i have searched a bit on here and cannot find the answers, so excise me if you folks have answered this before…

New 23 S10. I am looking for aux lights options. I see the PIAAs people are using, but cannot seem to locate all the parts including harness, lights and bar switch. So I started looking at the Denali. I can sort lights ok, but cannot figure out mount, harness and bar switch.

I have factory engine guards on order and I assume I can mount to them.…

I am hoping for some advice on what/where to order. Welcome any input… thx!

I have a GIVI guard on my bike. The Denali clamps worked just fine for me

I have been using a set of clamps bought from Denali mounted on TRex crashbars and they are working excellent.
Previously owned the Yamaha crashbars and they weren’t very sturdy so switched to TRex and they are excellent and relatively low cost and easy to install .

I would be mindful with the Altrider bars as brackets that say they are 25mm which ought to fit do not. I measured mine with calipers and they are slightly bigger than 25mm probably because of the bends. Dremmel fixed it.

Ive worked up, installed, modified, wired, probably a few hundred "light systems" in my life........... The important thing to me is, what do you want? What are you looking for? Do you know yet?

-Is it light output ?
-Price?
-Type / style ?
-Mounting?
-What are you wanting in adding extra light ?

The vast majority of folks look at price first, and then get very confused and misled on the "internet info" about external driving light info. It can become overwhelming and sometimes VERY misleading. (I often laugh at web sites because there PR / advertising folks are working HARD on the BS crap they talk about, promise, promote, and make you-tube video's ""proving"" there advertising point.) I often have a conversation with people about this driving light topic. If you're looking for lights for safety on your way home from the office, that's one direction. On the other hand, if someone is crossing the Utah desert at 2AM in pitch black darkness, that is obviously another conversation. And there certainly is "the middle of these two"

I certainly can suggest options for these questions. Don't forget that many of these lights CAN be wired up to operate almost ANY way you might want. Many options, even if it doesn't talk about it on their web site........

You can answer these questions on the public forum or you can PM me or anyone else. I'll be happy to help suggest or guide you with lighting. If you need help wiring, I can also help for give suggestions. (Over the Internet you never know who you might be talking with. They might not know anything about something, or on the other hand they might have written a Best selling book on the subject..... LOL )

You can have most of these lights wired into and controlled by your factory switches if you want. You can have them on a stand alone switch. You can have them on "switched" power, or you can have them to be used "non-switched". If you chose a 'pair' of lights you can wire them individual to perform two task, like an extra Low & High beam......

Point being, you can have almost anything you want... Tell us what you want, we can help you or guide you.

I went down an auxiliary light rabbit hole a couple of years ago. Ended up with two sets that I use - Baja Designs (my favorite if I had to pick one) and Denali D7 (I think D7, regardless, their big ones). I decided to get an Altrider upper bar to mate with my Altrider lower crash bar. If I'm honest with myself, it was really just about an easy mounting option, though does offer some additional crash protection I'll hopefully never need. I went this route as the lighting kits were complete and I didn't have to piece things together.

Both sets of lights came with switches and options for how to integrate to wiring. I went with connecting it to my low/high beam switch. Both Denali and Baja Designs make good quality lighting systems. Both are sturdy - I hit a turkey at highway speed and one of the Denali lights just got knocked out of alignment. Didn't hit the BD lights, but their housing is even beefier than Denali.

I explored the various clamp options and found that the ones offered by each lighting oem worked fine. But you need to specify the diameter of your mounting bar (25mm in the Altrider case). In the process, I got a couple of different universal mounts from Amazon, but didn't quite like how they worked. I was ok with that as I need to mount some aux light on my atv, but I don't recommend them for use on the S10.

There's guidance on connecting aux lights to the low/high beam switch in the forum. If you plan to use lights on-road, I highly recommend that approach so you don't need to deal with multiple switches in dropping to low beams.

Hopefully this is useful. Lots of good experience on the forums!

Thanks all for the input. @Tabasco, Im a long time rider but a lame a$$ mechanic. So I usually have to rely on the shop to help. I rode the bike home in the dark on my first day with it and there is not enough light for my liking. I want to put together a sub 700 package that will supply some solid light at night on dark roads, gravel or pavement. Bonus of added awareness during dawn and dusk. I will pay the shop labor to put the lights on when my engine guards and skid plate get there.

Ideally, I would like to find a great set of lights, wiring harness, mounts (no clue on location) and a bar mounted switch pod as a package. I don't know enough when I look at all the options to put together a package!

My Triumph Tiger had decent lights already installed, so this is new for me... Thank you in advance!

Big believer in utilizing the void under the headlights. If you're an adventurous offroad rider you will lose lights off your bars sooner or later. Sooner if you're having fun. Expensive appendages to be sure. For me, a rigid industries 6" led bar with balanced spot/flood directly under the headlights has done the trick. Best luck however you go!

That's kind of what I did, with the Rigid being of the spot variety. I went with driving beams for the rest of them. Makes night riding a bit safer and enjoyable.4EBDCA52-EBC4-411A-802F-78482ACA1E1C.jpeg

Nobody mentioned Clearwater lights. Yes, they are expensive! But they are bright. I also like that you can still use them on low beam too. Just adjust intensity to what you want on low beam. They have less expensive lights but this is 20,000 lumens!!!

I have used PIAA for years then swapped to Denali for a bit. Clearwater lights are in my future as I have a riding buddy who has them and I love the hi/low beam and their brightness too.

Denali D3 - I have 2 sets one low on my crash bars a spot set with the yellow lens and im installing a second set up top with the Denali bracket that fits under the bikes lights a set of Hybrid light with a clear lens both will be set up to a Dial Dim Controller

They are the most powerful lights for their size - look up A Bike Thing he has some good tests on the Denali products
