Ok, I am confused here. I went from a Garmin 60CSX using Mapsource to a Zumo 595 and BC......

On my old unit I would have like 30 or 40 waypoints along my track. Stuff like, "fuel cut off" or "cave 2 miles".....lots of cool stuff. That way when I was riding along I could see the waypoint pop up, read it and decide it I want to veer off track or not.

So how in the hell do I have all my cool waypoints pop up on my 595? What the hell am i doing wrong here?

Simply save your waypoints as favorites. It will then show up as a heart on your map.

I have to plug my 595 in three or four times before the computer will see that it is there. Then, when I start using basecamp, it hangs up. Wishing I'd bought a Tomtom. Could not find much help online, does anyone know a web page with hints and tricks maybe? The garmin page was of little help.

It is very importentthat the USB plug on computer have the required voltage..
I have a USB port on my screen, (with wire from computer), and this USB is not good for Garmin. (does like dannyv write)
But if I put it in the USB directly on computer, all good.

Based in UK but good advice worldwide.

I am on that forum. it is great and I recommend it for anyone who needs help................with the exception of me. They dont get what I am asking, I suspect cuz they dont ride. I want to be able to have (like I did on my old unit) several waypoints on a tracks or a route and while I am riding they appear on the map as I get to them. That way if I want to see a POI or something else, when I come to the "crossroad" along the route, I can make the decision to stop at it, or turn off to go to it.

Seems simple to me.......is there another way? Having them saved and needing to select them as I go does not work.

I don't have the 595, but I do have the Montana 600, and my screen shows any and all area waypoints that I have saved. I loaded them using BC.
You did right by getting the Montana. It is much more user friendly than the Zumo's for waypoints and points of interest.

By the way...
I really believe this is correct.
At least on my 595 ;)
It's not a perfect solution but it works. I also found I'm spoiled with turn for turn, estimated arrival time, miles, etc in "route form". So I convert my tracks to routes. I used to use tracks for everything. Now it's all about routes.

Check this guys videos. He gets you properly set up from the start. Explains alot of the basic stuff you need to know to use basecamp. Very helpful.

Yes, if you don't have them on Base Camp from your old GPS, as fav.
If you have, simply import fav. to 595

I have seen that videos before, good info but not the case here. I have all my good waypoints in BC, like I said I want them to show up as I drive to them.

Then I don't understand the problem..
Can't you import them to your 595 from BC ??

One thing though...I'm not 100% sure of this, buy maybe your favorites don't show if you have zoom to much out.

The 590 series handles routes and trip planning differently from the 660 series. I am not sure what you are trying to do is possible. I think and I am not 100% sure that the only way you will see them is if you create a route. Which I get isn't what you want to do.

Åh my god....You are correct:eek:
I just tried for some timeo_O, on my 595...and only the new FAV I made on the 595 is showing.
The one from my 550 IS there, and I can set them as destination, but they will NOT show up, when driving pass them.

I noticed that the old ones, importet from 550, don't have the coordinates attached, the new ones have, maybe thats why..

But you can make new directly on 595, if you make the old ones a destination on the GPS, then you can "tap" on the destination twice, and then save them again..
You can actually use same name I think, just be aware that it seems that the 595 will ad a "1" after the name.

Example:
You have an old FAV that is called "nice spot", then when you have done the above, and used same name, the new spot will be named "nice spot1" without you typing the "1".
