Is anybody using the accessory bar on the 2014+? I'd like to add a shelf there, but would like to see if anybody can show me a picture, or give ideas. thanks

Why specifically a shelf?

I feel like I owe an apology to checkswrecks for my lack of searching ability, but my searches have only been able to find a few very expensive mounts, a few GPS mount ideas (not interested), and many pre-2014 ideas.

My idea for a shelf was to place a radar plus ??, but I'd settle for a RAM mount or comparable to mount on this skinny, slippery, little 2015 bar..... but it sounds like those move around too much.

I was under the impression that there are several methods to mount stuff to varying diameters of tube stock, RAM being the the one at the top of my mind. The mass of the object being mounted tends to be the biggest problem from what I've read. The clamps aren't getting tight enough, or the plastics and paints being dealt with just don't have enough friction between them. Friction can be improved though, and/or use more torque. The other is the tendency of the mass to want to oscillate... shake violently, along with the point that it's mounted to. Two thoughts there, find the lightest possible equipment to mount up there, the other is the use of diagonal braces, creates a very strong triangle, no more shake. That one has been brought up visually a couple times... light weight equipment, not so much. The pre '14 stuff may very well be on tube stock, there are a lot of Touratech and Madstadt brackets out there, not to mention a lot of creative maniacs, don't dismiss the ideas solely on the year being posted.
LOL, that bar is too far away for me to be able to see anything clearly. My RAM mounts are back on the bars, no shake.

No apologies necessary, I was only pointing out that others have found some solutions.

I used it for 1 ride for my zumo. Couldn't read anything because it was moving too much, was really difficult to use being further away. The best solution was this. It's more solid, stays close to my left hand when I need to use it, and I can read it when riding with it being closer and vibrating less.

I've got my radar detector mounted there with a simple ram mount clamp and their magnetic "power plate" holder. I also loop a large o-ring around it too, just in case.

I have used these on the mirrors of both the 2012 and 2015 Tenere. The left is for the GPS and the right has been used for iPhone or SPOT or GoPro or whatever is in the future.

I had one under each mirror. Left side was for my W&S wireless controller (I added a RAM ball for this very reason) and right side was for my iPhone. GPS was mounted to the tank bag, though with my vision changing with age, it was getting harder to read it at that distance!

I used handlebar clamp Ram mount balls before stiffening the acessory bar. I couldn't get past my first new motorcycle having a useless acessory bar, so I fixed it. The balls worked just fine though.
