How to transport the ST on a Motorcoach

For you guys or gals that travel in a motorhome and tow a car. Looking for ideas on how to best carry the ST and tow a car. I'm heading towards retirement and thinking about getting a diesel pusher motorcoach (older used, not new). Has anybody made or seen something that could work? Would it be better on the towed car or on the motorcoach? On the towed car, it would be much lower, maybe easier to load, but farther back. But with the ST's weight, that could be a problem in itself. I might have answered my own question there. A double trailer set up won't work in all states, so I'm thinking some kind of rack. I have not looked under the back end of a pusher coach, so I don't know what's there or if it is even possible to attach to. What do you think? Pictures, links, ideas, even crazy ones could be interesting??

I have a friend with a Hydralift. Between the product, and installation, it was EXPENSIVE. He loves it though, and it was the only way he could comfortably carry a heavy bike with a car in tow. Of course there are other options, but this was the only "no compromise" one.

When I had my RV, i had a 24ft flat bed trailer behind it, i put my bike on the front, running across the trailer, tied down with straps and the car was parked behind the bike. It was very secure, 100% legal and one person could do everythin. I also thought it was good for theft as you could not really get the bike if the trailer without first removing the car, so that gave a lot of extra peace of mind. My bike was a gold wing not a Tenere, but if it worked for a wing I am sure you can get a Tenere to work. The other great thing is that the trailer cost $2500 new and I sold it 4 years later for $1800 so it cost me less than $200 a year to have a flat bed trailer available anytim I needed it!!

Problem with that would be too much weight in the front even for a diesel pusher. The front axle/suspension are not designed for that much weight up front, and you would have to do some expensive custom work with the front hitch to frame.

The carrier you show on your link is limited to 600 lbs. our bikes are that plus some. I would rather put the bike in the p/u bed, unless you are talking a 3/4 or larger p/u, and even then it would be better in the bed of the truck.

I have talked to a number of people that have the Hydra lift, and they all love it. That is the way I would go if I had a Class A diesel pusher.

How did you get the motorcycle turned 90 degrees on the trailer.

There are some tow dollies that allow for either a motorcycle or golf cart and a car, plus you don't have to fight with the size of a large trailer. The toy hauler motorhome is also a good idea, the ones I've seen typically have a 10' garage and either a loading ramp or lift gate. The only drawback is the need to disconnect the car to load/unload the bike.

I had a Tandem Tow and thought it was a pain. You can get the bike off without removing the car but dealing with the dolly was a pain! You can't move it not unless you have a hard smooth surface and then what do you do with it? It was good for the 32 Ft Diesel Pusher but as I age I wanted things easier so I moved up a bit.

Any ideas on what the Hydralift costs? They don't list any prices on their site. I sure like the concept of it.

I have a full size pickup, and if push came to pull or I can't sell it, it will become the towed vehicle. So that might be the way I go.

Since we will become full timers, the toy hauler part wouldn't work for us. But for weekend warriors that would be great.

Last time I checked hydralift was about $6,000.I think they post cost on new horizons build sheets.They have hydralifts as options for back of thier 5er"s.Some run swivelwheel trailers that are attached to tow vehicle in 2 places ,then hitch option to flat tow behind that.

IIRC, Panman said his Hydralift set up was close to $10k when all was said and done. Trick as hell though. I have seen a few while traveling with everything from 'Wings to GSAs attached. You can't take it with you , right...?

How did you get the motorcycle turned 90 degrees on the trailer.
I used a little metal dolly with 4 castor wheels that goes under the center stand. I think I bought it from cycle gear. Once the bike is on it, it’s really easy to move in any direction, but once I had turned the bike 90 degrees, I had to take it off the center stand to remove the dolly, and I would then tie it down using the side stand as it seemed more stable to me, than trying to secure it on the center stand.
