Copied from another post:

edit , just got it fingered out.

ok just went out and played with it, here's what i did,

put it on center stand

held tcs and reset buttons down while turning key on

held buttons down for 8 seconds

ecu AND SCU options came up, using tcs button i scrolled to highlight scu

pressed both buttons down again,

screen then read just DIA so i pressed both buttons again

had several screens of codes and numbers,

using tcs button i scrolled through them

when it read 84 on the top i pressed both buttons again and the preload adjustment started to raise the bike, it went all the way up then down,

error light went out

shut off key

turned key back on and no more code

this was all by pure trial and error, i have no idea what all the numbers stand for ,

maybe someone could sticky this under "how to re-home suspension" ...?

Why would you need to do this? I just swapped my shock spring and I don't think it was needed. Tested everything after reassembly and test ride and it seemed to work just like before.

The day you walk out and start your bike and the yellow light is on and you suspension won't work you will find out ;)

Well, then let's hope that never happens. But I assume this means it's not a standard procedure after working on the suspension.

It surprised me when it happened to mine but this simple reset fixed it in a few minutes. But I did ride it a few days before I stumbled on this fix. I think the softness setting still worked but I never change that anyway.

Well I appreciate that you shared this reset here. I hope mine works fine but if not I will definitely apply this technique.
BTW... you didn’t say but do I have to do this standing on one foot? Hmmm... and which foot?

Thanks.

Ok after I found the battery dead... I got a new one. Installed it today and when I turned the key on... no problem. It started fine and no code it just ran as normal. Since it’s still raining here I didn’t get to test ride it but hopefully tomorrow.

I rode it 234 miles on Sunday and no code no problem. I do think it’s now stiffer than it was before the service. I’m also not sure there is much difference between Soft, Standard and Hard on the suspension.
More testing to come.

Yes ! It is that way. Very disturbing. But, the day it happened to me, I followed toadady directions and they worked like magic. Thanks to him.

Good info! I was thinking about changing fork fluids and possibly the rear shock spring! Thanks guys! I have the 'ES' model and wasn't sure 'how to' proceed with fork oil changes, but I suspect aside from the electrical connection/components, rest is same?

I had a custom spring - shock on my 2014 super Tenere, and loved it but an old guy darted in front of me from a side road this summer and his insurance company bought me a 2021 super Tenere ES. I do not like the suspension as well as my old one and would like to know if anyone has found another spring that works with the ES, and improves the ride.

Look for a thread here with a title “My re-spring of ES” or something similar.

Thank you for this! Rode over Hagerman pass in Colorado & thought my rear shock failed, was bottoming out the skid plate on the way down.
I had left the setting on one rider & no luggage. Next time I will know better.

Thank you, AVGeek for sharing. Useful information. Mine is a 1200ZE, too, and I haven't had any suspension issue until now. And, as Brick, I haven't noticed differences among the Soft-Standard-Hard settings either.
