To add:

I picked up a used Sargent. Moved the different height bumpers (maybe the previous owner had changed them, or maybe they come from Sargent this way) so that the tilt was towards the back. I then put one of the large bumpers in the upper front position position like I did on the stock seat, and it worked. Level seat now.

Ricky Bobby, should have figured you'd be around here. :D

Yeah, I heard last weekend you had traded up! :)

I rode about 25 miles this morning to scrub the mold release off a new set of A41s and about halfway through I realized how much better the seat is now. Glad I hadn't ordered that RDL I had been thinking about yet.

I love the RDL on my RT, I'm definitely gonna make it happen for this bike too. When you jump from one bike to the other constantly, it's really obvious how much better it is for me.

I may still want one but I'll do some long days with what I have before I decide.

To perhaps summarise this thread... Just tried this and as others have said it can easily slip out from the rear latch. Some have fixed this by wrapping grommets and tape to make it tighter but then that is equal faff to buying the Yamaha lower grommet kit but doing the job properly and sitting on a grommet not hard plastic. I have ordered the lower grommets part number 22w-24741-00, very cheap, you need five. See second half of video... if you lick the grommet it presses straight in, no need to try and prise it in with a screwdriver.

Had some 1/8” thick adhesive backed rubber neoprene laying around leftover from another project and decided to attempt leveling the seat. I cut the neoprene into one inch squares (4) and put them in place of the rubber ones tward the rear of the seat. Hopefully this will dampen any vibrations that would normally come thru the seat compared to the rubber delete video.
