P.S. To above post
The manual says you have to disconnect the electrical connections to the fuel pump before you do this.

The only glitch might be that bikes sold in the US seem to be programed different than elsewhere. Another case of the Nanny Police saying "Don't Touch That!" ::010::

Gen2 2015 ES

Has anyone documented changing the CO setting on a Gen2?

I see documentation of preparing to change the CO setting but not the completed results.

The reason I ask is... since the TB's have been sync'd... the engine surges (lopes) at idle until it is fully warmed up. The first time the TB's were sync'd was when they were rebuilt/repaired at the dealership. The next time was recently by me with the Hamonizer.

I am wondering if syncing the TB's could have caused the surging and changing the CO levels could correct the issue.

I followed the service manual procedures to try to access the CO adjustment mode on my 2015 U.S. model, all I got was "DIAG", the "CO" option was not available. :(

After i saw this post, i tried it yesterday, and wow! what a difference!

After some testing i went up to +19 ( also didnt had to make a connection under the saddle )
the bike is much smoother between 2000 rpm and 5000 rpm.
I think that the K&N filter and Mivv exhaust needed this higher fuel mixture.

Also the cooling water seems to stay a bit cooler, i need some more testing to confirm that. ::022::

Over the last few k miles, the once minor lean surge betweek 4k and 5k rpm has become worse. Is there any possibility that the CO adjustment can address this?

I'm not clear on exactly what rpm/throttle opening range this adjustment impacts.

Thanks!

Just a quick update. The CO adjustment didn't help my surging issue, but it made a massive impact in off-idle performamce. I never used to use S mode because of the jerky throttle response especially taking off from a stop, but now it's smoother than T mode was before. Huge improvement

Also, throttle resonse in general is greatly smoothed out. If you have a stock bike and haven't done this, do it.

Oh, I set them to +8 on both and haven't tried any other setting.

I'd also recommend a TB synch. Helped smooth out my Gen 1.

Any update on how to access co on US gen2?
I have tried it using the service manual guidance, but I had no luck on my 2015 US model. I don't think it is accessible on Gen 2 US models. :(

Was it a GEN 2 Service manual? What's the procedure like?

Yes, it's a genuine Yamaha service manual for model years 2014-2016.

There is a 6 step procedure on page 8-35 that ends with this:

TIP
If ECU was selected, press the TCS button to switch the display between "DIAG" and "CO".

I followed the procedure but "CO" was never displayed. It may be available in non US models, though, I can't say.

Just went out adjusting CO on the -14 ZE.

ignition off, press both TCS and RESET and keep holding them while turning the ignition on. After a few seconds the choise between
ECU or SCU (? Not paying attention to the second choice) shows up. release buttons and toggle your choice with TCS button.

Choose ECU and long press both TCS and RESET a few seconds and the display will show a smaller "diag". Another click on TCS will toggle to "co".

To enter CO, hold both TCS and RESET buttons for a few seconds and the CO 1 should show up (witch would be cylinder 1).
To enter long press both buttons and then chose value with TCS for up and RESET for down. when done a fast click on both buttons
will take you back to the CO 1..

Click TCS button to move on to CO 2 and repeat the above. When done turn off ignition.

This worked for me though it might be altenative ways

Greetings!
On my 2016 XT1200ZE I adjusted the CO2 as per above to +15 and found the bike to be less "gutless" when first opening the throttle in T mode. In S mode the engine is smoother in operation when first opening the throttle and when shutting it off. When I had a Gen 1 bike increasing the CO2 to +15 also produced similar results but I think the benefits are more pronounced on the Gen 2 because of the bigger gap between T and S modes.

I have access to Yamaha's PC diagnostics and hocked up a Gen 2 the other day and the CO adjustment tab would not highlight.
I ask the RTA about it and he wasn't sure how to access the CO.
I need to call them back and dig into this more.

Nissbird resides in Hereford, England. I believe that would make his model XT1200ZE, a non-US model...
