Well I got front spokes from OldRider. I installed the lost nipple. Then I torqued all the front spokes. And added blue locktite. Several spokes were loose. Then I added a couple of lost zip ties that were missing.

Now it was time for the rear wheel. As I torqued and added blue locktite I found on that just kept turning. I suspected that the threads were stripped. But NO... as I turned I noticed that the other end of the spoke... the flared end was coming through the wheel! Crap! Hoping that the hole didn’t enlarge I had the spoke in my hand and noticed that the flare was gone!! WTF!!! I grabbed one of the new front spokes to see if the hole was indeed ok. Whew! Yes it is the spoke failed! Oh yes now I have rear spokes on order! On top of that it’s 74 here and beautiful today! Grrr!! Oh well I also now have this ass kicking cold! My nose won’t stop running! I need downspouts for my nose!!

I’m jonesing for a ride!!!

This is exactly why Yamaha needs to come out with a cast and spoked option for wheels. Bimmer got the hint - Yamaha needs to get with the program

Spokes are on the way. You should have them by Friday, Saturday at the latest.

I checked mine at.....
500 mi, 3 rear, 2 front (not what I would call loose, just not in torque spec.)
1k mi 2 rear, 1 front.
3k 1 rear.

Since then I check every oil change. The fronts have been fine, maybe 1-2 in rear need a slight torque.

I should note, 80% pavement 20% dirt/gravel roads.

That's an excellent point - is road riding vs OR effecting what people are experiencing in spokes loosening? Would be a good point look at

For us 99% road riding Tenere riders, I would have loved a cast wheel version, even if it would have been a very plain jane 3-5 spoke wheels with no design at all.

As stated previously, I have had no front spokes come loose, but have a few rear ones get loose in between oil changes, so now check every 2000 miles.. About 80% road and 20 dirt.. It only takes 5 minutes to check all the spokes so it's not a big issue to check them.. Much better than having one fail or come off.
