hi guys,

got a set of virtually the same size dog bones that are on the bike as standard coming, now i,d like to do this myself in the garage bike on the centre stand

can you guys tell me the best procedure to do this job, i know its 2 large bolts, but on the centre stand do you suport the gap under rear tyre to stop things moving etc

cheers

Put it on the center stand shove a large screwdriver or wrench under the tire. Before the bolt comes out, there's a inner collar that slides out of the race. This will give you enough room to pull the bolt out.

I purchased Eastbound tire tool set with my lifting winch and it works really slick for removing/installing my wheel:

I just use a long ish, narrow, but reasonably strong bit of wood under the rear tyre, which I use as a lever to align the bolts for easy removal and refitting.

incase you need it, they’re 59nm.

I’m not with my bike at the moment, so can’t check, but I’m fairly sure that one of the dog bone bolts doesn’t come out easily, as it’s blocked by the exhaust. I may of got the linkage bolts mixed up in my mind.

can anyone else confirm?

I think you are right but you can put the bolt back in from the opposite side without any issues.

Rob, it comes out super easy. The bolt next to the exhaust clears no problem. Pull the bolt until hits the exhaust then pull the collar out from the other side. The bolt will then come out at a downward angle. In fact I would pull all the collars out and grease the races.

What Chris said. With the collar out, very easy to remove.

When I did the install, I put the bolt in from the other direction, no more issue.

mmm,

say it again its not the 2 bolts that hold the dog bones that is a issue they come out and back in with no issues I KNOW the other one touches the exhaust and can be turned around BUT that ones does not need to be touched if changing dog bones
