Highway crusing speeds?

Hello all,
I can't remember if I ever asked this before. But I am just curious. What is y'all's basic highway cruising speeds. On two laners of course much is dictated by your surroundings, curves, traffic, etc. But if I am on my way from Point A to Point B, say to ride up to B'ham to have my bike serviced, I will take the interstate because it is quicker. And an open highway like that I cruise along in the mid to high '70s, sometimes 80, but seldom faster than that. So I was wondering what others prefer. I have some friends who, I don't care if it is two lane or four lane , they go every where like 90 miles an hour. That is not me. If I go that fast I can't enjoy the scenery for watching the road.

Hyway, I'm 70-75 MPH. (indicated, not true) Bike seems to be comfortable there. ::26::
80 and above it seems like it is a little extended, although prob can handle it all day.

I stick with the speed limit (true speed), unless it is clearly too dangerous to go that slow (almost never is too dangerous around here).

According to the very inaccurate Yamaha speedometer I'm comfortable running 10-12 over the posted limit, according to GPS it's more like 5-6 over the posted limit . I had 25 years without having a ticket but my luck ran out about 5 years ago when I got ticketed for 79 in a 55 zone.

Speed limits in Montana and adjacent states tend to be higher than most other regions. The interstate limit is 80 MPH and most two lane roads are posted at 70 MPH. I typically run no more than 5 over, but may hit 15 over during a pass. I run a Valentine One just incase.

Got pulled last October for the first time in 25 years. I was in Nebraska on a two labe road posted at 60 MPH. I was running 10-12 over on my FJR when I saw a Trooper with lights on in the oncoming lane... slowing for a U-turn. I pulled over and the nicest LEO I ever met approached me. Told me his buddy was in an airplane and had me at 70 MPH. I think ATGATT, gray hair, a friendly attitude on my part, having all required paperwork and a retired military ID goes a long way. We chatted for a bit and he said that when he saw me he got me on laser at 64 MPH and that my speed must have been up while I passed a truck... then he said "Right with a knowing nod of the head. He then asked if he gave me a warning would I obey the speed limits for the remainder of my time in Nebraska? My term to say "Right". I left with a warning. While this was going on there were four other cars pulled by four other Troopers. Must have had the entire shift of Troopers for all of western Nebraska involved.

Long jaunts, I do a realistic 70-75.
I use a gps for the first time last weekend and was disappointed at how far off the speedo is.

I can't think of a good reason for the speedo to be off at all if I'm running factory sized tires. It's not like Yamaha doesn't have the technology to get it right

I found that anything up to 90mph they will cruise all day fully loaded with pillion...however..over 80mph they do start to drink fuel a bit ..

The state you are in makes a difference to the answer too. Doing more than about 10 over in Ohio or Arkansas or on a Federal roadway can get really expensive.

I averaged 47.7 doing backroads down to FL and 46.4 on the way back all highway averaging 80. No pillion but fully loaded with gear.
