Hi, everyone. I'm new of the forum and I'm also new in Aussie. I'm looking for a Super Tenerè for everyday use and to travel in your wonderfull country.
I've looked on bikesales website but I didn't find anything interesting.
I'd like one well preserved and less in kilometers at right price. From 9000$ to 15000$ depending on year, kilometres and accessories.
I've looked also for a demo bike but nothing, only a brand new 2013 model (the old one) at 18.000$...to much, very very close to the brand new model. Maybe at 15000$ it would be well.
If anyone knows of some Super Tenerè for sale I'm here...thanks and see you soon on the road ::022::

Welcome Lorenzo... Waves to you for the other side of Sydney somewhere :)

Don't rush it. the right bike will find you.
Also don't be afraid to buy one form another state... I did... my test ride was the 950km ride home - and I loved it!

Dealers will not move much on price... these things are hard to get so they sit on the price.

I rode mine Brisbane to Canberra an hour after buying it. Never looked back and wouldn't have had it any other way.

I agree with you Pilotuh1b.

Fly, buy and ride is a common weekend activity for me.

Australia has a population 2/3rds of California and an area equal to the Lower 48 US states. Finding a suitable used Super Tenere (or any other particular bike) is unlikely in your own suburb Lorenzo.

Buy a plane ticket and enjoy the opportunity for some travel in our wonderful country as you ride back to Sydney ::008::

Thanks, I've already thought at this solution but my main trouble is that I'm off only on Monday, and is impossible for me catch the plane, make the property translation and come back with the bike :'( ::021::

I'm in Aussie since 3 weeks, can I ask you how works property translation here? I've already studied about the Rego and I know that is connected at the bike ;)

If you buy privately you just need a hand written receipt to state you've bought the bike and how much it was. Do a "Revs check" of the VIN to check it's not stolen, been written off before or got money owing on it. Then it'll need a vehicle inspection before rego.

If from a dealer they'll do all the paperwork and register it in your name.

I take it you mean every Monday off work. After Sydney, Melbourne will be the most likely place to source a Tenere.

By catching either the last plane out of Sydney Sunday night or the 06:00am flight to Melbourne Monday you can be in Melbourne in time to buy the bike by 09:00am.

Ride it home the 880km. Stop at Glenrowan, Gundagai and Pheasants Nest service stations (all on the Hume Freeway and no towns to navigate through) and less than 300km per leg. The road is almost all 110km/h so including stops you should be home within 10 hours of leaving Melbourne and will have become familiar with your new bike.

They are a sought after bike and over $20,000 rrp in Australia. Second hand for 12-13000 is pretty common unfortunately.

If you have a look at KTM 990 prices you'll be less shocked. Those things are rare and expensive second hand.

Thanks guys, maybe I found a good bike in QLD with three months of registration left...Than, what I can do about the rego, green slip, blue slip, licence plate ecc? How much is it more or less the amount? Sorry but I'm new in Aussie and I don't understand your ensurance system yet! If you can explain me clearly what to do I'm so glad...and a beer for you at the first meeting with the Super Tenere

If it's private you can ride it down on its current rego. Just get the details on the rego certificate filled out. It's on the back and should have bits to fill out for buyer and seller and should be torn to give each of you a part. Also get the seller to write a 'receipt'.

Then when you get home you'll need to get a vehicle inspection done which I think will be a blue slip and will need to be done by an RTA inspection centre, you'll have to look them up. This will confirm the bike and engine are the correct numbers, VIN and Chassis, and that the bike isn't wanted for anything, stolen, write off, money owing etc. not sure how much this one costs.

Then you'll need a pink slip which is a road worthiness certificate. This can be done at some mechanics or bike shops. Just ask your local bike shop who they get to do theirs. It's about 30-50 bucks and is a set fee.

Then you'll need to organise Compulsory Third Party Insurance, CTP or green slip, this can be googled. Most insurers can give you a quote for this. This is the expensive one from memory. About 3-500?

I live in ACT so some of this is from memory of living in NSW.

Stamp duty will be paid with registration at the RTA at the rate of about 2-3% of purchase price or market value. To stop $1 sales.

Only difference if bought in NSW or from a dealer is you may not need a blue slip and you will have a receipt for sale.

Hope that helps and happy to be corrected by a NSW rider.
