I had the same issue with my Laam seat. I was trying to get it to latch with the seat leveling mod but just couldn't get it to latch. It would click but would not latch. I finally got it when I turned the key and held the latch open, pressed it in place then released the key back to the locked position and it worked. Now I do that every time and it locks every time.

Well every grumble deserves a follow-up, so here is mine. After spending hours trying to get the Touratech seat to latch, including swapping latches, swapping rubber bumpers, high setting, low setting and failing miserably, I put the seat into bubble-wrap and left it in a corner of my garage. Then I drove to Franc3 for 2 weeks to see family that we haven’t seen for almost 3 years and forgot all about that darn seat!

The seat has sat there for well over a month now so yesterday, I went into the garage and tried again, still the stubborn thing refused to latch and then……. It did! Solid as a rock! I had swapped latches and the Touratech one worked fine with my stock seat on high setting and also on low setting. So I tried the Touratech seat again on low setting and it latched! So just to prove a point, I unlocked it and removed it and tried to put it back on and the darn thing refused to latch again. After about 5 minutes of grunting, sweating and swearing, it latched! So now it’s staying put! I would rather it be on the high setting but I am quitting while I am ahead!

I am glad to hear it.
I felt guilty about it...
I wanted to ask how it was developing but I was afraid of the answer.
Happy it works somehow...

Ah! Don’t feel guilty! You helped me so much! I couldn’t have done it without your help and patience.
My gut feeling is that the seat base will “bed in“ a little as I use it and it will become easier over time. I am off touring in Europe for about 9 days soon, not decided whether to go to Southern Germany or Denmark and Sweden just yet, but I can decide closer to the time when I can get a better weather forecast!:)

It was me who " pointed" towards the Italian brand or Touratech so it was my bad after all...
Glad to know we are still mates!!

Seems to be a common issue. I only have one because my mate Charlie bought it off another mate after he went back to a GS(fool), but Charlie couldn’t get it to latch on his 16plate either. But it goes straight on my 20plate. Think mines a low though, so it’s currently in bits as the post was broken off, so I’ve fixed that and reinforced it from inside, and now I’m gonna add some memory foam to build it up a bit. Debating a gel pad, but having added one to my OE seat I can’t honestly say its made the slightest difference.

I just got my new touratech seat and also had some problem to have it lock in place. He is what I did if that can help some people.

First I put a little drop of paint on the tip of the latch

While keeping the latch opened by holding the key, I put the seat in place and released the key and I did that a few times and finally hold the latch in opened position to get the seat off.

Finally I got the latch aligned to fit the paint mark. You may have to file a bit of material. I also had to add a spacer of about 1mm. Now I have a perfect fit with the stock touratech bumper feet and steel lock. Hope this help.
