Hello , new to the forum and just wanted to introduce my self, didn't want to be one of those guys that shows up with a problem and is never seen again. I have been riding motorcycles for 44 years, started out with a Honda CT70 at 10 years old and currently have a 2013 ST 1200 at 54. I live in Reno NV and bought it in Boise 4 weeks ago for 7200.00 with 4750 miles and a complete set of luggage. My wife and I drove up in our CRV, spent the night and drove back the next day. It had been many years since I had ridden that much in one day, 400 miles, I am more of a 250 miles a day and find a nice B+B. The bike performed flawlessly, it is totally stock and gets most any job done well. I finally got to take it out in the dirt yesterday (it has been super smoky here for the last month) we have 100s of miles of dirt roads, fire roads, jeep trails , and single track within minutes of Reno. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!, I came off of a 2007 V-Strom 1000 with a 2 Bros exhaust and a power commander that was a ton of fun to commute on (super torquey, loud and obnoxious , but horrible in the dirt). The S10 is awesome in the dirt, it is amazing how well it hides it weight, it just feels planted everywhere it goes, thats with stock 5000 miles Battlewings, I cant wait to see what it goes like with a more dirt oriented tire. I like to sit down when I ride offroad and for me , that style seems to suit the ST. It feels like you sit "in" the ST not "on" it, the suspension is incredible. I am still deciding on what mods I want to do, flashes, exhaust, I am sure it can be improved upon , but it is pretty good as is. The only problem I see is a minor surging feeling at highway cruising speed (70 mph), I dont know if a reflash will get rid of that or not , any input on that would be appreciated. Right know I am thinking about removing the cat, I am a fabricator, welder , painter, went to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute 34 years ago and was a auto tech and instructor for 32 years (motorcycle mechanic didnt pay much in the old days), so I will be doing my own work for the most part. Any ways , looking forward to getting to know you guys.

Hi BLW!
Just got my new 2014, cannot wait to go visit fam in Reno and see if Toll Road and Geiger are equally fun, let me know what other Local roads are worthy of S10s!
I do most of my riding out around Truckee,Stampede reservoir, and Yuba Pass area, I would be glad to show you my favorite areas some time. Sorry it took so long to reply to this I been working 60 plus hours a week and just sleeping besides that.TTYL
