Hello guys, new owner of a 2012 Super Tenere here!

I'm originally from Colombia, I'm 31 years old, and have been riding for almost 20 years, most of which has been on small displacement bikes (50cc -150cc). And I currently own a 2021 Versys 650

Yesterday I brought home a beautiful 2012 Super10. The only issue with is... the rear shock was at least partially destroyed by the previous owner. (From what I can tell the the shock sheared the mounting bracket that connects to the linkage)

This will obviously be a project for me, but the previous owner assured me that this happened while trying to unload the bike without a ramp from a U-haul. The bike looked really good, it started and sounded ok, and she can "power walk/crawl"... so I assumed that the engine and transmission were in working condition.

I think I should be able to tackle this on my own, it looks like only the linkage and the shock would need replacement...

Hopefully I won't bore you out with the questions you already know that will be coming

Welcome from metro Seattle. Looks like the bike has a Penske shock with a broken lower clevis. If that's the extent of the damage, a replacement clevis can be ordered directly from Penske Shocks. Their after sale customer service is excellent.

Good luck!

Welcome, from Texas. Did the forks get jacked up too? Maybe it's the picture angle, but the right one looks bent.

Hey @escapefjrtist thank you so much for your suggestion, I haven't had the time to work on the bike yet but from what I can tell it seems to be just that. Tomorrow I'm going to take the wheel down and the shock out to inspect it. After that I'll just disassemble and clean as much of the bike as I can while the parts needed for the repair arrive!

Thanks again for your suggestion, that's a lifesaver.

Hey @Sierra1 thanks for your reply! And I don't think so, I'm pretty sure its the angle of the picture, I gave them a good look while loading the bike and whatnot... there was a little bit of oil on them, but I went into this purchase assuming I would have to replace the fork seals anyway, since the bike has 60000 miles on her.

Are there any tools/ways to tell if there's any deformity/bend on the forks that you would recommend?

I don't think so, but check with TABASCO to be certain. Pretty sure if they're sliding up/down smoothly they're probably good. What I was seeing in the picture wouldn't need a device to notice.
