Hello, all!

New member here from the Blacksburg, VA, area in southwestern Virginia. Recently purchased a Super Ten and have been studying the forum since.

I’m about four years into my second iteration of riding, after being away for about ten years. When I stopped riding back then, there was a KLR, an ST1100, and a GTS1000 in the garage. Four years ago I picked up a Gen1 KLR which is great choice for me, living in the Jefferson Nat’l Forest. While my long distance days (and multi-bike ownership days) are probably behind me, I found I needed something that had a little longer legs than the KLR. Hence, the S-Ten.

I still plan on hitting the region’s Forest Service roads with the S-Ten but probably no more abandoned Appalachian single track / deer paths.

Anyhow, hello and thanks for all of the knowledge that has been deposited into this forum! Time to start farkeling!

You live in the middle of a great area to do the Tenere thing. I left Waynesboro & rode all county roads through Catawba to Dublin-slept a little and took an incredible dirt road into Burke’s Garden Virginia-Back of the Dragon & meandered home. Highly recommended & perfect on a Super Ten.

Welcome!

I grew up in Blacksburg. I keep making plans to do that area's portion of the MABDR and explore a lot of other spots in the area by motorbike. I started riding after moving to WI and haven't had the chance, but I know areas I want to get to. One of my high school classmates was Travis Jones who owns Go Race! in Christiansburg. He did wonders for my WR250R rear shock a few years ago (I shipped it to him). Good shop.

I do feel fortunate to live here... great area for riding and the outdoors in general. As Eville notes, the MABDR goes right by me...

Go Race! has a good rep for suspension work. A year or two ago they moved to a bigger shop on the other side of C'burg, so they must doing OK!

I just checked that out - that's a much bigger shop and way across town, but better w/ interstate access. Good for them! And now if I stop by I won't wonder "where did they go?" Thanks for the tip. I might be down there next summer to visit my dad.

Welcome from California. Enjoy your ride.

Don't sell yourself short. I was in the same boat thinking about having one bike for everything. Unfortunately my physical capability started coming up short. 500+ mile days were beating me up on my Beta dirt bike converted for my do all machine. After getting the Super Tenere I found that 500 mile days are a snap and no issue at all!!
