Greetings from the great state of Texas :) This past August, I became the proud pilot of a 2016 Super Tenere ES! I purchased it used in absolutely immaculate condition with only 2k miles on the clock ;) After a thorough second owner inspection and maintenance period, I took the Black Stallion (aka ADVader) on its maiden voyage last month; the Ozarks in Arkansas (riding to and from). 1,998 miles later, I'm convinced I made a great choice in getting this bike!

My S10 will be a 95/5 machine :p That 5% off road will most likely be to get a campsite and that's probably about it ;) I ride road, track, the occasional BDR and I perform just about all maintenance myself. I've been riding for 7 years now (rode a little dirt as a kid) and my other bikes are a 2009 Kawasaki ER-6N (primarily track use), 2015 Kawasaki Versys 650 LT and a 2016 Kawasaki KLR650.

Fwiw, I've ridden lots of bikes overall (over 110 to date :/ ) including all the big bore ADVs. The two deciding factors in choosing the S10 were: 1) Yamaha reliability and 2) It having a drive shaft

I'm still learning the bike but here are my initial thoughts on the S10 so far:

• Incredibly well balanced (maybe not as well as the 1200GS but still excellent)
• Strong engine with good counterbalance -- vibes are like the 1290 Super Adventure without all the cocaine X-)
• Corners GREAT! Hustled really well through all the Butler Map gold routes in NW AR! I plan to do a track day on it soon to feel more of it out in a safer environment (19" front WILL remind you that it's not a 17" though! Ha ha!)
• Would prefer smoother fueling in Sport mode (until I fully adapt, it's mainly a problem for me during transitions/corner entry in super technical turns and during some corner exits)
• I think I would prefer manual suspension for more compliance for my spirited paces (current ES setting is HARD +2 but I'm still learning it all)
• Great ease of maintenance so far (accessibility, intervals, parts availability, etc.)
• Decent fuel economy
• Unbeatable value for money in the used market (I paid $9500 OTD)
• The bike is definitely not a GS wanna-be. It's something else entirely and that's cool to me!

Add ons to date:
• Stock windscreen (came with a LARGE unknown screen - maybe a Madstad?)
• OEM World Crosser skid plate
• OEM foam tank pads
• T-Rex Racing front & rear axle sliders
• SW Motech City tank bag
• Yamaha Top Case (really expensive lunchbox man!)
• Touratech Quick Release Headlight Guard
• Star Wars Imperial Army keychain (geeky -- I know)
• Star Wars Imperial Army windscreen sticker (sorry, the bike in this color looks like Darth Vader's ADV man)

This forum is AWESOME so far! I look forward to learning, sharing and contributing in a positive way! :)

Welcome from a couple hours up I-35, or US 281 for a nicer ride. There is a learning curve on the e-suspension. Sometimes it seem counter intuitive, but being able to adjust on the fly. . . . makes up for it.

Nice intro and welcome.

What Sierra1 said about the ES + try 2 helmets preload and i would switch the TCS off in S mode for pumping the corners ;)

I rode thru San Antonio twice Wednesday on my lunch ride to Classic Burger in Kerrville. Seems to be more owners from Texas signing on the forum lately. Welcome.

Definitely a nicer view up 281 ;) Agreed regarding adjusting the e-suspension on the fly. I've learned a lot that way so far. Thanks!

I'll have to check out Classic Burger the next time I'm in Kerrville ;) As for TX owner representation, given the size of the state, I'll bet there'll be a bunch more next week! Ha ha!
