Re: Gerbings Electric Gloves

A quick update on my Gerbing purchase, I am sending them back for repair. Since I purchased them in August of last year they are still in warranty, although I'm a bit surprised they need repair after less than a dozen uses.

Re: Gerbings Electric Gloves

Did you all know this?
I ran across a thread in ADV discussing the change in Gebings warranty from Lifetime to 1 year. Lotsa folks weren't happy about it. Seems like they just changed the name by adding LLC to the end and saying they no longer offer a lifetime warranty. Then, I saw where someone had contacted the "real" Gerbings folks and found this link--->>> http://gordonsheated.com/index.html .

Following is the text of David Gerbing's post in ADVrider:

"Hi everyone. I would like to help clarify this situation. My Dad, Gordon Gerbing, invented the heated jacket liner for motorcyclists in the 1970's. While working together in his company, he and I and another brother also introduced the concept of this thread, the lifetime warranty, as I remember, over a family dinner. We are the ones responsible for providing the kind of customer satisfaction that Dad has always believed in.

Dad is not a business man per se, and even today understands little of finance, accounting, all the typical business school stuff. He is just someone who loves working with people and taking care of them, which is why he invented the heated jacket liner to begin with, after talking with some very cold riders.

Unfortunately, some years ago, Dad had a severe medical problem for which he almost lost his life. In a bad state, he signed his company away for very little money, way less than its actual worth, and without even a pension. I want to stress that this first sale was not to the current owners of the Gerbing company, Gerbing Heated Apparel, whom I do not know and have never met. However, not too many years after this initial sale, I and my brother and his wife were all fired from the company that had our name.

In the intervening years Dad has recovered very nicely. And all of us have very much missed our love of heated clothing and satisfying our customers. Just last Winter we have decided to return, to recover from what Dad has said is the "biggest mistake of my life." Our new company is Gordon's Heated Clothing, run by the same people who actually have brought you heated clothing for many decades, and we have absolutely nothing to do with any other company anywhere.

This is not a place for advertising, just to say we are doing this because it is what we love, because many, many people have asked us to come back, and because we believe we can bring the best heated gear to you. And everything, every product we are getting ready to sell, is made in the USA. Everything. If you want to know more, please contact us and visit our website, www.gordonsheated.com.

Wow, we are having fun again. And once again, we offer the Lifetime Warranty. This time we will do a little more preparation and make sure that our new company is passed on to the 3rd and 4th generation Gerbings so that someone will be around to honor that Lifetime Warranty for you when you need it.

Have a great ride and stay warm.

David Gerbing"

Re: Gerbings Electric Gloves

Wow!!!! Very intereting. I've used Gerbing for years in uk. I ride every day so the lifetime warranty WAS very important to me especially since all my heated gear seems to break after 1 year. So...when Gerbing stopped the lifetime warranty I switched to Keis even though their warranty is also only one year. Still prefer Gerbing gloves though so i use them with a Keis jacket which means using an adapter from Maplin because the connectors are different. I really hope Gordons stuff will be available in UK soon???
