Just to add to the above, you have to stop pushing down and let the lock assembly come back up before it will rotate into the P position. If you continue pushing down, there is a hard stop and the switch will not rotate into P.

@TopTen - excellent description. US bikes do not have the park position. Thus the confusion.

Top Ten thanks for the very thorough explanation, I never realized my 2018 had that feature but sure enough I went out to the shop and gave it a try and it works just like you said. All 2014 and newer Tenere’s in the USA must have it.

By "US" do you mean United States? My 2018 US (Texas) Super Tenere has a "Park" position. As mentioned by Cycledude, there must be some newer years of the US bikes that do have it, older US versions that do not?

I think what Eric meant to say is that the US bikes do not leave the tail light on in the Park position. They absolutely have a Park position, and as you say, it is so you can operate your hazard lights with the bike parked.

Not true. US (United States) bikes DO have the park position. In addition to the flashers the 12V outlet is hot when the key is in the PARK position.
I stand corrected. Gen I bikes do not, Gen II gained that feature at some point. After 100k on the Gen I, I didn't even look at that on the Gen II. Guess I'll have to investigate my 2015 in the morning.
