When I'm fully loaded, I use a Givi Top case & a dry bag on the rear seat. Has anyone removed the rear pillon and the plastic cover that includes the grab rails?

I removed the grab rails and rear seat but not the plastic cover. I had to make spacers for the rear racks. The reason I removed the grab rails was due to the upper rear box not fitting in the lower setting, it hit the grab rails. I have the SW Motech upper rear box and Solo lowers. I liked it better with the grab rails on to get the bike up on the center stand.

Lots of people do. I removed mine, (both times I bought Super Tens), the day the bike came home. Some people like to mount them upside down for use with soft bags. The spacer was not necessary for me, and I liked having a nice flat load platform w/o the passenger seat and that spacer. I ordered 4 more of the rubber bumpers too, so long, flat items sit level on both rear seat area and luggage rack.
