So the instruction from the other threat read as followsTo install the Gear Position Indicator GiPRO-X (aka GPX) do the following:

1) follow the steps above, EXCEPT you DO NOT CUT the BLUE wire. The WHITE lead from the GPX is simply tapped into the BLUE wire using the supplied POSI-LOC tap connector.

2) The Black/Green (RPM signal) lead from the GPX is tapped into to the GRAY wire on the same ECU connector using the supplied POSI-LOC tap connector.

Problem is all wire have either stripes or dashes on them there are no solid wires.....And all the grey wires on the left connector have stripes on them....and of course all the pictures are no longer avaiable....

HELP

thanks

I found this old thread and unfortunately see no one ever answered. I saw the other post but had the same dilemma you did as which blue wire

From an old post on this. I used this tip myself on my '12 Super Ten and it is much easier than going after a wire at the ECU. Note the highlighted text at the end. (edit: This was for the Speedohealer with gear indicator)

"I contacted Norbert at Heatech Electronics, manufacturer of the GIPro X Type at info@healtech-electronics.com
Got immediate reply and after a couple of mails clarifying my doubts and following Norbert's directions the problem was solved.
It was my error in connecting the red positive and black ground GIPro cables to the 4 pins heated grip accessory plug. I founded another positive 12 volts when the key is turned on and the GIPro started to behave as expected.
I also strongly recommend to connect the green GIPro cable to the 2-pole black Crankshaft sensor connector (located near the battery terminals) to the grey cable. It is much more simple."

Further, did you go to the Healtech site and read the install tips for the GIpro? HERE

Very helpful, but now that I have the ECM out (tricky screw in the back) I see that attaching to these connector wires would be very difficult.

So - the GREEN wire on GiPro much easier to connect to crankshaft sensor black plug - GREY wire.
And where do you connect the WHITE GiPro wire? That would be the speed sensor. From one of the wheels?

I'm putting the ECM back together now.

Thanks,

I've got the unit powered up, with the GRN lead going to the crankshaft sensor and the display reads L when the engine is started, as it should.

Now I just need to connect to a speed sensor. Are the two units in front of the ECM the ABS? There are two connectors and lots of wires. Studying the wiring schematic leads me to believe that one of the blue wires (if this is the ABS) goes to the ECM to report the speed. Again, many blue wires there. OR, where else can I pick up the speed signal to feed the gear indicator?

GOT IT! For the wheel speed sensor I went under driver's seat to find the ABS unit. Tapped into one of the blue wires, this one with orange (?) dots, and this wire provides pulses when front wheel is rotated. I suppose one of the other blue wires is for the rear wheel. Doesn't matter.

Initial ride out my neighborhood had it up to -4- and wouldn't learn higher. So I waited til I was at a faster road, pulled over and did a reset, then took off and went all the way up to 6th, and it learned each gear. Works perfectly up and down.

Could you not connect the red and black wires to an Eastern Beaver switched 3 circuit add-on? Which I have, I mean the red wire is "hot" and the black is "ground", right?

Yes, certainly. Red and Black for power, and this 12V can be easily sourced in a number of places. Aux fuseblock is one of them for +.

The difficult connections were for the engine speed (using the crankshaft sensor) and the wheel speed (sourced at the ABS connections under the seat).
