Funnily enough I have same problem with the Trekker 52.

Looking at whether Dr not I can drill some holes further back for mounting bolts. Or if I can make some brackets to move whole givi plate back.

It's a couple of inches further forward than oem top box.

Yep,
lookin at the alt rider one and where the gici mounts are on it looks like its very close to the givi one , theres not any room on the givi plate to move the mounts back as RH SCOTLAND says think it need a plate made that the give plate can be mounted on to, to move it back

Maybe removing the backrest pad will be enough? If she has a back protector in her jacket it will hardly be missed at all.

Can Concur swapping out the givi luggage rack for the Altrider plate also solved the problem for my wife. It puts the rear box mounts back far enough to make it comfortable.

Hi,
thanks alot for pictures just put my rear seat back on and took the givi box off, my measurements with the sra2101 plate is a inch difference, probably not enough to justify the £160 price tag.
the givi sra2101 plate has 5 mounts the 3 middle ones i could drill and move about a 1 and a 1/2. to move the plate backwards but the sra2101 plate if i do that i loose the top 2 mounts by the rear of the seat

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GIVI-SRA2101-Aluminium-Monokey-Top-Box-Rack-for-Yamaha-XT-1200-ZE-Z-Super-Tenere/142698827454?epid=2288064804&hash=item2139834ebe:g:NyQAAOSwOGZajvjJ

the above sra2101 plate if you see there are 3 mounting bolts 1 in front of the top box mount the tall beak an the 2 just up from the mushrooms, there is enough room on that plate to drill those 3 holes 2 inch further down the plate to move the box 2 inch further back BUT there are 2 mounts on that leading edge by the back of the seat i can not move them as there only about 10mm from the edge of the plate

When I had the Givi box on the 2012, the box was ridiculously forward and Karen had the same complaint so I moved the box back nearly 3 inches with an adapter plate. Nothing fancy, it was simply cut from a thick (3/4"?) white HDPE kitchen cutting board and you can see the white in the photo below. There were something like three bolts down to the bike's OEM bolt holes and four bolts up into the Givi mounting plate.

Well,
this weekend modified my givi sra plate, and managed to move the trekker outback topbox back 2 inches had a 200mile ride today and the wife is well happy what a difference.
The 3 m8 countersunk bolts in the middle of the plate i moved 2 inches by re drilling and bolted down moved the plate back 2 inches perfect and the 2 m8 bolts that then are in the wrong place made 2 3 inch bars out off 25mm x6mm ally and bolted them on the edge solid and perfect for my trip to germany now
well happy

That was good work. I recently went through a similar situation with mine. I used a piece of aluminum similar to how Checks Wrecks used his cutting board. I would like to add though, that removing the back rest on the top case can be a more viable option that it would seem to be. It was recommended to us by another couple and I have used that technique to our advantage a couple of times. She really doesn't notice it's missing.

I'm not sure if you've sorted your issue yet, but after reading of others having problems with the co-pilot being cramped for space , I elected to use the Altrider rack with my Givi trekker 46.
Worked perfectly, plenty of room for the wife, and the Altrider rack is a quality piece of kit.:)
