Givi Skid Plate install issue

I bought a Givi skid plate on Amazon that was sold through Powersports Superstore. It arrived without mounting bolts. I could have sourced them locally so I tried to install it. The bar that goes on the engine front was about 1/8 inch or 3mm too wide. I ended up returning it and got a refund. I like the price of the Givi and have other Givi accessories on the bike. Should I try again with Givi? Has anyone had this issue with the Givi? The pics below show how it was too long.

Presumably we are talking about the Givi RP2119 plate, which should be perfectly adequate for general use: -

I'm guessing much of the kit fixings, including spacers, was missing - Givi are always very helpful in my experience & are usually happy to make good if you have an issue.

If you are of the rock hopping, off road variety, then you may want something more substantial.

Yes, it was the RP2119. I just wonder why I couldn't get the bar to fit between the mountings on the engine.

Presumably you refer to item 2 'Support' ref: GL2207.

Was it too wide; if so by how much? was it a case of dressing away some paint/flash/weld with a file or was it a more material difference. Has the bike ever been involved in an accident that may have damaged the mount area?

It was too wide by about 3mm. The bike is new so the mount area should be good. The picture I posted shows how far off it was. I debate ordered another one and if I do wonder if I should order from another vendor so as not to get one from the same batch.

Were the ends of the bar powder coated?
It could be that the thickness of the coating easily makes up that 3mm and you'd want it to be a tight fit in there

If you’ve ordered another from a different vendor to avoid any batch issues and it’s the same, I’d be inclined to clean off the powder coat from the ends of the bar to get it in there

I never had an issue with it , and it does offer some good protection, not as good as some but it doesn't mount directly to the oil pan so there's that. I used it on the TAT and after the trip it was crushed in to within a few mm of touching the oil pan , from taking some big hits on Colorado mountain passes. Did it's job though , no damage to the engine.

Not sure if you found a solution but the Hepco and Becket skid pan have the same issue. The issues is on the 2014 and up models they have different headers. For some reason the manufacturers are saying these fit newer models when in fact they do not without my mod. I just completed this mode today and works great gives you a couple of millimeters of clearance. See my entire thread.

I made buy another Givi in the future. I think I can probably grind a little bit on the skid plate mount to make it work.
