Always fun: specially when someone is texting instead of driving

I'll file it under lesson learned! Thanks all for the honest input.

I know how you feel but is it really worth getting that pissed off. Looks like you broke more laws than the guy texting .

The last motorcycle rider here in Louisville that got off his bike and approached a car driver to ask her what the hell she thought she was doing, got shot, really, she shot him point blank in the chest. He lived but barely.

yeah, there's lots of idiots on the road, no need to make a point, or talk to them.
We're allways on the loosing end. Keep your eyes wide open, if you see something dangerous, move far away.
Locally you can report dangerous/drunk drivers, not a bad service.

I regularly get cut off on DC-area roads by thoughtless people with cell phones. If I hit the horns, THEY get pissed because I'm interrupting THEIR call as they drift into or thru my lane. But I'm not surprised that the person hit you to get away.

From their perspective and how an officer would hear or even witness it, some motorcyclist singled them out, targeted them with irrational behavior (meaning they didn't know why), broke a number of traffic laws to chase and get at them, and then physically came at them while they were strapped vulnerable in their box.

I think you came out lucky.

I wouldn't even do that over here where we don't have guns. To do it over there where everybody has a gun you must have a death wish

A few riding days ago, I got backed into by a car making a u-turn in downtown DC while I was waiting for the light to turn green. He didn't make it, so he backed up (into me!) to get the room to finish his U-turn. I didn't even see him hit me. I just felt a hell of bump into my left rear pannier. I didn't go down (Thank goodness!). If I didn't have both feet down on the ground, I would have fallen. The jerk just drove off too.

I seriously considered chasing him down telling him (mostly likely it would have been angry yelling), "WTF dude"! But I didn't. Another cage driver, who saw it, pulled up next to me shaking his head, like he couldn't believe it either.

Lesson learned - expect the unexpected in DC. Never thought I would be hit in my blind spot by someone making a U-turn in a busy urban street. I was very close to having a serious case of road rage.

bastid...

Too be honest if I didnt know I cut you off and some wild looking guy came up to me and my family . You may end up ;aying on the side of the road and only one side of the story would ever be heard , MINE. ::002::

Dont get mer wrong I used to do the same until I understood the otehr side .
That person may not have even knew what happened to piss you off which mean they can defend their selves.
Did they deserve worse yes !
was it the right thing to do ? Maybe

I know this is an old thread...but I am a newbie and everything is a discovery.

I ride armed, concealed. For peace of mind. But, I will never get in any confrontation with somebody who already has their weapon at the ready....a 4000 pound bludgeoning device.

I have a better way. I used to seethe with anger when an idiot did me wrong. It ruined some rides...sorry, personality disorder I guess. Now, I just get a plate number. I pull off at a convenient time and call 911. Report it as a reckless drunk driver and give description of the vehicle. Get back on the road with a huge smile on my face....and let the boyz earn my tax money.

On one trip south a few years back. I passed somebody I had returned this favor to 15 miles down the interstate.......smokey had him.

First - Welcome to the group. Really!

You may want to re-think this method though. Karma does have a way of kicking ass.

Every call to 911 is recorded and every State has a law similar to the following from your listed State of Kentucky.

519.040 Falsely reporting an incident.
(1) A person is guilty of falsely reporting an incident when he:

(a) Knowingly causes a false alarm of fire or other emergency to be transmitted to or within any organization, official or volunteer, that deals with emergencies involving danger to life or property; or
(b) Reports to law enforcement authorities an offense or incident within their official concern knowing that it did not occur; or

(c) Furnishes law enforcement authorities with information allegedly relating to an offense or incident within their official concern when he knows he has no information relating to such offense or incident; or

(d) Knowingly gives false information to any law enforcement officer with intent to implicate another; or
(e) Initiates or circulates a report or warning of an alleged occurrence or impending occurrence of a fire or other emergency under circumstances likely to cause public inconvenience or alarm when he knows the information reported, conveyed or circulated is false or baseless.

(2) Falsely reporting an incident is a Class A misdemeanor. Effective:January 1, 1975
History: Created 1974 Ky. Acts ch.406, sec.166, effective January 1, 1975.

Police are not lenient on false calls because of the officers killed every year responding to false alarms.
::024::
The penalty for what you say that you do?

532.090 Sentence of imprisonment for misdemeanor.
A sentence of imprisonment for a misdemeanor shall be a definite term and shall be
fixed within the following maximum limitations:
(1) For a Class A misdemeanor, the term shall not exceed twelve (12) months; and
(2) For a Class B misdemeanor, the term shall not exceed ninety (90) days. Effective:January 1, 1975
History: Created 1974 Ky. Acts ch.406, sec.281, effective January 1, 1975.

Yeah, I am aware of the repercussions. Our law is very similar. I seriously doubt I will ever have an issue. If somebody intentionally cuts me off or drives aggressively around me.....I consider them drunk.

If I ever am cited I will take it to court...be glad to testify that the car was weaving and passing in the slow lane. I figure it will be written off as an honest mistake. I have only employed my method sparingly and for instances when I feel somebody put my life in danger and not just an honest over site by a cager.

But, thanks for the heads up .... ::012::

Not a whole lot of things you can do.
If it's something insanely serious I will pursue and call a cop.
If it's your Dumb ass suet in a Lexus talking or a Bimbeano in a Jelly Bean car texting I just flip them off.
we are vulnerable at all times nothing can be done..

Does anyone remember what happened in New York last year? That was a group of bikers and it didn't workout for them.
