My 2014 ES S10 side stand has 2 issues that make it unstable, particularly if rear shock preload "Rider" or "Rider + Luggage" is selected (each of the 4 rear shock preload settings on the ES model results in noticeable change in static bike height, particularly after dismounting & unloading/removing luggage/gear:

1) the bike was too upright & susceptible to tip over, except when the rear shock preload was set to "Rider + Passenger" or "Rider + Passenger + Luggage", which I seldom use, I mostly use rider + luggage). This is exacerbated if a wider foot plate is added, which effectively lengthens the side stand.

2) the bike was susceptible to rolling forward off the side stand on any down hill sloping terrain .

Both issues can be corrected via "minor" angle grinding of the cast mounting bracket (particularly useful if a wider foot plate is installed) & removing the small raised tab on the side stand. They are very minor tweaks that seem to improve stability with the stand deployed.

If you typically use the 2 higher preload settings & have not fitted a foot plate extender you may not need to do #1 mod.

This seems to be more of an issue with the redesigned gen 2 aluminum side stand on ES models.

Just leave it in first gear and it can't go anywhere. I leave my bike pointed down hills all thw time and its never moved. Safty first.

Could you show us a picture of how-what you actually ground in the first two pictures ?

unless I’m at home in my garage I usually park in gear so there is no chance of rolling, that’s a simple lesson I learned the hard way many years ago.

Mine does look like its too upright at times but because of the weight of it i find it would take more than you think to tip over the other way.

Sorry, no pics of grinded surface...but it was the side stand bolt-on metal bracket surface that mates to the motor case...best to grind small increments & test to your preference :)
