Got mine back after recall, several loose cut wires at ECU. Does not seem very professional.

That was because they used the connector that is standar between some yamaha's ECUs. but they just cut the cables that are not connected to the s10 installation. VERY unprofessional. They should open the connector and they the unused pins out. or at least shrink tube at different long thos cables.

I'll apologize in advance if didn't I search real well.

My 2012 with 46K miles on it hasn't had the recall performed yet. Due to past bad experiences I am hesitant to let a dealer touch the bike. My bike has had the ECU flashed and has a PCV installed. Is there going to be issue with me getting this recall done?

Can any of you recommend a dealer in the DFW area to do the recall? I may have the valve adjustment checked at the same time.

Thanks

This dealer was recently recommended in another thread. A couple hours away, but worth checking on if you don't find a dealer nearer to you.

Thanks! I believe this is where I bought my bike back when it Yamaha Powersports of Longview. I know the old owner well, know nothing about the new owner.

You can contact @Tabasco (Jaxon), who is a member here for the valve check. He is located on the north side of Ft. Worth, and really knows the Tenere. He did my last valve check, happy, and a straight shooter. He has a website www.rideonadv.com

I used Maxim Honda Yamaha in Allen, for the recall. The mechanic did a good clean job. Only took 3 hours, if I recall right. You need to call whatever dealer you are going to use. They have to order the recall kit using your vin#. I called Maxim, and they had the kit it the next week. Not all dealers will do that. Some require you to drop the bike off before they will order the kit, which is stupid.

Yes Tony's old dealership. I had warranty work done under the new owners and customer service was still good. The same mechanic that did my warranty CCT upgrade was still there. I'll probably go there again for the wiring harness recall. In no hurry for that though. Keep forgetting to call Yamaha USA and inquire if the recall ever expires. I believe it's classified as a safety recall so it shouldn't.

Headlight harness on my Gen 1 has crapped out. I'll be going back there, too.

Had the recall done.As long as they have to remove airbox, told them to sync throttle bodies now.Saved a lot of labor $$$.They claimed out of sync a little, runs much smoother.

Do we have a PDF of the recall instruction for all to see?
I’d love to see these instructions. My 2012 has been at the local dealership for over 2 weeks. I was originally told they would have the bike 1-1/2 to 2 days. The first time they called after 3 days was to tell me they had dropped and broken my headlight assembly. They suggested that they could put some clear coat on it. They called again at noon last Saturday saying they were about finished and it should be ready at 2. I went by at 9 this morning. Not ready. They say it’s showing 3 codes... I’m sure mad that I went to them. Never again!

That sucks. Please take a moment to put your location in your profile. City/State or just state or country is fine. It gives context to your posts and helps others, as well as helps others potentially help you.

Did they replace the damaged headlight? Do you have extended warranty still?

I’ll see if I can figure out how to do that, but I’m in Tuscaloosa, AL USA. Yes, they replaced the headlight. I will be inspecting this recall work like a hawk before I sign off on anything. It’s a much longer story that’s already involved a call to Yamaha about 6 weeks ago.

Took a week on mine..
One thing i did notice was that surging while at steady highway speed is gone.
But going to Moab this weekend once in Durango and once in Monticello, Utah.
A code 9 or something popped up on my screen after zeroing out trip 1 and 2 it wouldn't start after filling the tank.
Recycled the key and all was normal?
First time this happened with codes since i bought the bike, now with 90k.

I feel your pain. I rode to Harrison, AR to find a decent Yamaha dealer. Wife's BMW has been in the shop for over a month now, waiting on them to look at it and now for a $2k part from Germany.

I wish there was a “crying” button next to the “thumb” button.

Exactly why I'm holding off on having this particular recall done.
I will wait until my S10 actually develops a hint of the symptoms Yamaha stated as the problem.
The three major Yammy dealers in my area have yet to perform this S10 recall.
On this kind of an action I am not a gambling type dude.

I’m sure after looking at these instructions, I would have been able to do the recall work properly. The guys that work in this particular shop are not very good at showing professional traits, if they have any. I’m not sure what I will do when I see what’s up with the bike.

Just got my bike back from SG Power Products in Victoria, BC after TPS wiring recall. Dropped it off @7:30 in the morning and was phoned @close to 2pm to say it was ready, although who knows what time they actually started working on it and when exactly they finished it. They told me it was VERY labour intensive, as everything was buried within the bike. They were very appreciative when I told them that I had removed the upper crash bars and only left 1/4 tank of gas for them to deal with. They said they had done a couple previously, but none of the mechanics on today had ever done it. Seems to run fine.
