The "beams" are the same. On "low", the top half of the beam is covered by the shutter. On "high", the full beam is used, providing much light. Aiming is critical on projection lights. In my opinion, they're worthless on motorcycles because of the narrow beam on a vehicle that changes angle(s) depending on who is on the bike, and what you're carrying. On my FJ, I have a 55/100w halogen bulb. One bulb/lens, and it provides all the light I need, regardless of who/what the bike is carrying. Technically, the bulb is illegal for "on road" use. But, unless you're a dumb ass, and high beam a cop, nobody is going to know.
