Maybe the bulbs are not installed properly ? The metal tab is supposed to be in the 7 o’clock position. Honda makes it easier than Yamaha by providing a slot so the bulb only fits one way.

I have to agree with these shutters being a PITA!! Almost impossible to get both high and low beam adjustments aimed correctly.
I don't consider it a brightness issue. For me its an aiming issue. If I put the low beams where I want them, the high beams are too high and pointless.
It's like low beams reacts more to the height regulator, than high beam. maybe, placing two washers on the upper screws that hold the headlight, behind this ... tilting the headlight a little down, maybe the problem of the difference between the high and low beam would be solved

The "beams" are the same. On "low", the top half of the beam is covered by the shutter. On "high", the full beam is used, providing much light. Aiming is critical on projection lights. In my opinion, they're worthless on motorcycles because of the narrow beam on a vehicle that changes angle(s) depending on who is on the bike, and what you're carrying. On my FJ, I have a 55/100w halogen bulb. One bulb/lens, and it provides all the light I need, regardless of who/what the bike is carrying. Technically, the bulb is illegal for "on road" use. But, unless you're a dumb ass, and high beam a cop, nobody is going to know.

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Forgot to post this yesterday. I did happen to find a picture of how the shutter system works in the S10. This guy is selling them for $75 ea on ebay.

Wow. That does not seem very efficient, or very durable. All that just so they can use one filament?! Planned obsolescence.

I believe it's three issues. The shape and size of the assembly to focus the light, use of a basic 55W bulb, and touchy alignment. Can't do much about the shell, but a number of us have gone to the NovSight (or similar) for $39.99/pair and they are worth every last cent. Plus, the 50% lower power of the LEDs is better for the very expensive headlight assembly.

Yeah, it's the touchy alignment that effects how well/far down the road you can see. Cars aren't affected as much as a bike.
