I use 4 hex head 4mm screws, 2 washers for each on inside and out and 4 lock nuts.

Thanks. Are you drilling holes somewhere to do this? If so where? Sorry for the ignorance but the bike is new to me and I've yet to look at a lot of stuff in detail.

No need..
Look on the side of your upper frame you should have two small holes about two inches apart (for mounting Deflector wings) that's the holes to put the screws through and through the plate that has the holes already ready to mount.
You can leave it bare metal but suggest paint it semi gloss black to stop glare or have it powder coated.

Yes all sort of stuff you can mount on this see Ebay link.
I have my driving light switch, Cigarette lighter style charger (on all the time) and duel USB charger ports on the board, Volt meter replaced the factory charger port hole and wiring.

What kind of gymnastics to you need to to to get the panel (gen2) in place? Does anything need to be removed to make ckearance to get it in? Mine is sitting on a shelf right now :/
