Hi gang - at the suggestion of a fellow rider, I am offering up my hydration system for sale to Tenere riders. As you can see from the following images, the system is comprised of a base clamp unit that attaches to the passenger footpeg base (either side), a bite valve attached to a sufficiently long piece of tubing that can be placed within easy reach for a convenient slurp while riding.

The kit includes the base clamp unit, a 1/2 gal jug (1-gal units are a few bucks more), 5 ft of flexible drinking hose, a bite valve and all necessary fasteners to easily attach it to your bike as shown in the third image. I will powdercoat it in your choice of several standard colors; satin or gloss black, various silvers, near chrome, and others. I have made a bunch of these for the FJR gang and they have been well received. The LD rally guys love them since the jug can be removed and filled quickly. The delivered cost stateside is $110. I will sell the first one to a lucky rider for $50 delivered so I can get some feedback. Satisfaction guaranteed. PM me for more info. Thanks. ::008::

Welcome to the board Garauld!

Folks - Garauld's been on the FJR board for a VERY long time and is a "go-to" guy, especially for painting. If you want to get scratched bodywork matched to original or your side cases painted to match - maybe get that screaming lavender color scheme you've been dreaming of - this has been the guy.

He also joins the ranks of people who can make pretty much whatever you want. Overloaded FJR top boxes can lead to cracking the tail frame, so he welded up a custom aluminum bolt-on stiffener kit that gets hidden beneath the bodywork:

FJRs have been a mainstay in the Iron Butt community for a long time and his hydration systems are commonly used.

Garauld - There are probably some folks here who would be interested in your reservoir mounts for radar detectors and other devices.

Just received my hydration system from Garauld and I'm pleased as punch. It will be ideal for my solo road trip this summer. I'm still taking the wife out for day trips so I haven't mounted it yet, but it is first class and comes with everything you need and the kitchen sink. Great work. Thank you Garauld.

I've had one of Garauld's Super Tenere hydration rigs for nearly a year now, and it works so well I got to where I rarely rode without it. So good I bought an second jug so I could not only have one clean and ready all the time, but also so I could have one each with the hose rig and one without. So good the mount just stays bolted up to the passenger peg. The mount is solid, with quality materials and immaculate workmanship, and is so good it literally looks like a factory accessory.

Like Checkswrecks, I became familiar with Garauld back in my FJR days, where I got one of his gorgeous color-matched rear racks along with several other of his beautifully made accessories. Garauld is a master craftsman, but more than that, he has a remarkable eye for functionality. His stuff just *works*, period. Best of all, it's all built hell-for-strong. You never have to worry about it. You can't give his products any higher praise than that.

Also like Checkswrecks, I'd love to see Garauld bring some of his other products to the Super Tenere community, but even more so, some of his innovative and conceptual *eye*. No telling what incredible products he could come up with if he ever turns his interest to the S-10.

Thanks Gary (Garauld) for making the best hydration product out there, as well as for all the great FJR bits you made for me. ::008::

I looked at every configuration for a hydration system and this made the most sense. I don't want to lose space in my tank bag and I don't want my belongings in it to get wet from a sweaty camel bag and since it's a thermos it will stay cold. PLUS easy to refill at the gas station. Simple and brilliant.

It's also a whole lot easier to clean than any hydration bladder, and the Coleman cooler Garauld uses is even cheaper to replace than most bladders should you ever need to. There's tons of other advantages as well... Like you say it keeps your beverage of choice cooler longer than any hydration bladder, and it's a lot easier to empty if needed, as well as easier to fill. On top of all that it's orders of magnitude tougher than hydration bladders that can split, have holes poked in them, or tear. Those little Coleman coolers are so tough you can use 'em for jackstands if need be!

The handle makes 'em easy to carry, too. It really is a trick and terrific hydration solution. ::008::

Hey Dallara and those with this system,

If anybody could post a pic or 2 of one mounted on a Tenere it would be appreciated.

Only pic I currently have handy with the Garuald hydration rig mounted, and right in front of place where I had to drain some hydration!!! ::025::

I'll look around for some more.

Looks good. I was just curious on how much it sticks out from the side.

Thanks for posting the pic.

Thanks for posting the pic.

It really tucks in quite nicely to the side of the bike. Couldn't really get any closer due to the passenger peg mount. Mbabc, you know I run the Yamaha accessory side cases, and it tucks in well inside of those, so there's no chance of it getting hit, etc. It also folds with the peg it mounts to, so it has some degree of flexibility. However, that "folding with the peg" doesn't mean it flops around. In fact, it sits solidly at all times. Never even heard it bouncing up and down over very rough roads, on- or off-road. You never even know it's there, even mounting or dismounting.

To me the Garauld hydration rig is worth even penny, and then some. Like I said above, it's so good I even bought another Coleman jug as a spare. They are are less than $10 bucks online (http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/index.jsp?productId=34955706&view=grid).

And please note, the entire rig comes off with just two very easy to access bolts, so putting it on and taking it off is painless and ultra-quick. That said, mine has stayed on the bike for nearly a year now.

Hope this helps!

Oooo, I like the black thermos. I had Garuald send me a blue one, but I think I'll order the black as my extra one. Thanks for the link, Dallara.

Reviving an old thread....

I'm not sure if Garauld is even still making these but I love mine. I keep the bracket permanently attached to the passenger peg bracket. I only mount the jug/line when needed. This system has really helped out on long rides. I can use it while moving and it came in real handy on a long trip out west last summer.

I keep it tucked in if running without the side cases.

More upright with...

Thanks Garauld!

The system works well. Haven't used my Camelback since getting one of Garauld's setups. Tucks in nicely in front of the side cases, easy to fill or clean. The jug holder is very well made.

I wish I'd seen this before I spent $70 on a crappy cloth one. I want to order one of these. If you're still making various resevoir mounts etc I'd love to see a list of your wares...I have needs in this are as well.

You can send email to dave@expertfriend.com

Thanks!
