Based on what I read in this thread, I went out and got some Lucas and added it to the tank today. I wasn't having any issues with the bike's performance, I just figured I'd try it as a preventative measure.

TCW3 does not clean carbon deposits from intake valves and piston head. After 2 tankful of 500:1 mixture, observed that the deposits on the intake valves have increase a little while the deposits on the piston head remains the same. MMO next.
I guess this should not be surprising since you are adding oil as opposed to a cleaner/detergent type additive?

I think Lucas is mostly a more expensive copy of Marvel Mystery Oil, I’ve used both.
I'd say they are very different compounds. Of the two, Lucas seems the milder one and you can use it ALL the time.
I do!
Buying it in gal size, it is fairly economical.

You can also buy MMO by the gallon and use it all the time, but in my opinion using either one of them all the time mostly just adds to your cost per mile.

I drive a truck that gets 17 MPG, stupid low. So.........
My bike at 46 MPG, not going to worry about that!!!
Many "preventative" actions are hard to put a cost on. I just like to add an upper lubricant to gas seeing as it is so 'dry'.
Would I ever see a 'payback'? Who knows?..........

From my small amount of experimenting with TCW-3, it is a good (although slow) valve and piston cleaner when you treat your fuel at 1oz TCW-3 to 5 gallons of gasoline. TCW-3 is loaded with detergents (some solvents also) designed to keep dirty, smoky, 2 stroke engines clean so it stands to reason that should help clean or at very least; shouldn't carbon up a 4 stroke. Especially at such a low treatment rate. What TCW-3 cannot do is clean injectors or other parts of the fuel system. It is a light combustion chamber cleaner and lubricant only. It also has a light fuel stabilizing effect.

If you want serious valve, piston or injector cleaning, use a specific treatment for that purpose. I like the Gumout regain line of products for serious cleaning. Gumout all in one or Gumout multi-system tune up are my favorite cleaning additives.
I also really like the K-100 and Biobor series of products. I have tried all of them in my S-10. I winterized my S-10 last year with K100MG and the engine started easier and faster than all years prior.

A lot of the new car's are having a problem with carbon build up on the valves on the direct injection engine and many comp's are trying to come up with the fix , so far BG seems to help the best . I do a motor vac ,fuel Inj clean and Induction service ,so thats what I'll try when I do the next Oil change . Hope it helps....
