For sale, Yamaha upgrade skid plate. This was used for approx. 12,000 miles, no major dents or dings. It does have marks from gravel and road debris, which shows that it has protected the underside of the bike as intended. The skid plate sells on Amazon for over $200.00 on Amazon, this one is for sale at $85.00 plus shipping to your CONUS address. PayPal preferred.

Can you change the OEM filter without removal?

I have the same but I use K&N oil filter which has a nut on the head and I can remove it without touching the plate.

I honestly don't know. There are only three easily reached bolts holding it on, so I just took it off and let the excess from the filter drain into a pan. If you take the filter off with the skid plate on, it seems to me a big chore to clean up the excess oil that will pour out of the filter. I do understand the desire to not remove an AltRider skid plate or some of the others to change a filter as there are seven or eight pain in the neck fasteners to deal with. The Yamaha plate I have for sale is very easy to remove and reinstall after you're finished with the messy stuff.

agree with the above - you probably could remove the filter without taking the skid plate off, but it would make an awful mess! - plus the skid plate takes only a couple of minutes to remove / replace - probably quicker than cleaning all the oil out of it!
