Would love to say that I'm a delighted new owner but unfortunately not quite yet !

Picked up a Gen 1 14' plate for a reasonable amount, or so I thought.

Engine out, head off, new Gen 2 pistons and rings ( my choice and nothing to do with the corrosion issues ), frame ( and engine next ) re-spray...thanks to a completely seized ( and eventually snapped in situ ) spark plug.
Seeing that everything is now apart ( my new to me bike is nothing more than a propped up frame minus everything ) it seemed a good idea to replace all the known ' issues ' associated with the Gen 1 bikes....Done , Including a Wizz Performance flash along with several other upgrades.

*** If you are unfortunate enough to live in a damp and corrosive atmosphere then please ignore any advice about checking / changing your spark plugs every 40k miles...make this an annual check at the very least ***

Anyway, hi from IV30 in Scotland :D

Hi Mike, not the start to S10 ownership anyone should hope for. At least you'll know it'll all be good once it's sorted. You aren't wrong about getting the plugs out, did mine after nearly 4yrs and one was pretty rusted in.

Oh yeah, welcome from Sou Wales!

Thanks.

And you are right, every bush / bearing / pin / seal has now been removed / replaced and re-packed with fresh grease as necessary. New steering head bearings to fit tomorrow along with a Hyperpro front / rear spring upgrade kit !

It recently reached a point where I realised that trying to spend as little as possible to maintain the bike was beyond the point...My plan is to take early retirement next May so I need to make sure that the Tenere is a long term keeper, hence all the work and spend....and I kinda enjoy it all anyway.

Cheers.
