Congratulations on your new ride! I also came to the S10 from an early Strom 1000, its as under rated as the S10.

Congrats I came off an fz09 which I had set up as a mini tourer. The st is traveling in luxury and I look forward to many more years of travel.

Welcome from California. You made a good choice with both those bikes.

I retired my 02 V-Strom in 2017. Loved the Strom but consider my Super Ten a worthy successor

If you don't have a cruise. I highly recommend a McCruise. Their support is really good too. It works flawlessly and is independent from the factory switches.. If something goes wrong with it. I think it would be easier to fix. Factory heated grips are also easy to add. If you are inclined.

Welcome onboard!
To you guys, many of you say that came from a V-Storm, can you highlight the pros & cont for the bikes. I had a V-Storm in mind before I got my S10, I just love it, but will be good to hear your comments!
Have a nice weekend!

Overall, I really liked the Strom. The increasing need for cruise control drove my search to replace it

Things I did not care for on my 02 Strom
1. No low end. below 3500 RPM there was nothing which could make low speed maneuvers "challenging"
2. No cruise control. My arthritis has progressed to the point that even with a throttle lock, the Strom really challenged my right hand on long rides
3. No ABS or traction control
4. minimal difference between 5th and 6th gear (why bother?)

What I will say for the 02 Strom is that once you were on the power band, it was stupid quick! I do miss that *S*

What I like about the Super Ten
1. Cruise control
2. Split saddle arrangement offers more loading options
3. TCS has saved my ass twice since I brought it home.
4. cock pit turbulence is much improved. I run a stock windshield with side deflectors and a Puig top deflector. My Strom had the aftermarket Windstrom windshield which was pretty decent but not great

That is off the top of my head. I can say I have had no regrets moving to the Tenere

I had an 06 DL1000 and was more than haply with the performance but I spent an age and a good amount of money getting it right.
I fitted a Power Commander to sort the throttle response, I had the Sharealike clutch mod done which made a huge difference to the slow speed manners of the bike.
Buffeting was a nightmare but Tuono mirrors and mirror extenders fixed it.
A fork brace tightened up the front end which made the high speed steering spot on, it felt very vague in high speed curves.
My wife found the pillion seat more comfortable on the Strom.

I tried a 2014 version of it back to back with the S10, the Strom felt lighter and more flickable and the brakes were awesome but I'd read enough to know the S10 was a grower so I bit the bullet and went for it.

You won't be disappointed!
