140 hp ?? ..... you do not need to change the engine to reach those hp ... Why are you not looking for a good race engine preparer. Raise the compression to 13.5 .... modify the crossing of the cam shafts ... change the throttle bodies for larger ones, change the injectors for ones with a higher flow rate .... just with this, you'll be very close to 140hp and maybe 2 or 3 kg / m more torque, obviously at more rpm .. You can get bigger pistons and take it to 1300 cm3 .... As it was done in the old racing school ..... now everyone wants to get more hp, changing only one fuse. It may be cheaper for you to buy an xr1000s and transform it into an adventure (suspension / spoke rims, etc.
Just getting ready to post the same thing.....Would be sooo much easier! You can buy an engine....build it up out of the bike....swap it in. Many things can be done...custom cam and/or custom grind...boring engine....etc...then possibly add the FJR gearing....keep us posted!

This guy is a clever chap to, he jammed a Busa motor into a GSXR600, built a inline 5 busa motor and is working on an inline 6 !
The truth is that the level and quality of the development of that engine is incredible and of course the level and knowledge of the mechanic. But this brings to mind a reflection of Mr. Warren Buffett .....

Nothing wrong with FJR engine at all but I like the lugability of the S10. FJR power would be a hand full in something technical. But on the road hell yeah. I have a "breath on" ZRX1200 with FJR type power. I wouldn't want it on my S10. No way I'd trade.

Wow I’m surprised you never mentioned this project while you were working on it !

It's a very common swap here in CA where reliability and performance is needed. Very simple job with a few hand tools, wiring harness, and motor mounts. The shaft is plug and play as it is the same as the FJR. I did this swap a few years back for a friend of mine and it is very easy.

Both the FJR and Super Tenere are very underpowered machines. The performance limitation of an FJR swap becomes apparent at around 140mph. Start looking in the classifieds. There are dozens of these conversions. Keep in mind that the motor and chassis is going to be limited to under 150mph. After that the shaft vibrates and it becomes unsettled.

I'm waiting delivery on my new Kawasaki Ninja H2. Then it's off to the dyno and shop to install a set of cams, port the heads, add blower boost, and new intake/exhaust to extract some more power. There are really no modern street legal OEM motorcycles on the market today that have sufficient power for the pro level rider such as myself.

When I raced the Supersport circuit I was on board a Yamaha YZR-M1. It proved to be the perfect bike for the tracks here in the states. Unfortunately it cannot meet the EPE regulations to make it street legal. Sadly it just sets in my storage gathering dust.

I don't think Chris is saying he actually swapped an fjr engine into an S10. I thought he was being sarcastic. Wasn't he???

well the way I read it he definitely did say he swapped an FJR engine into a S10 For a friend and Claims it was very easy for him to do It. And yes I’m still surprised he hasn’t posted any pictures of his project.
