Don’t know how one could consider the Super Ténéré as a parts bin bike when it has an exclusive, purpose built engine, that’s not used in any other Yamaha. To me the T12 is a parts bin bike. Nothing new, or high tech. The E-Suspension, and cruise from the FJR are the "highest tech" it has. But, that's also why the price is as low as it is. . . . compared to the competition. I also think that's why the OE boxes are like they are.
His conversions are nothing short of amazing!!Allen Millyard is the man you need to speak to. He'll be able to add a couple of extra cylinders to your engine, no problem. Look him up on YouTube. He's always doing crazy stuff like that.
You're not off base, you're not even in the right ball park. Please do a swap and let us know how it goes because you will definitely be the first on your block.I want more power. Any ideas on a fjr motor swap to a s10 or am I way off base?
The ECU will protect the engine and the engine is very conservatively designed. You won't hurt it and we do have members who've run their Teneres on the track. Not trolling! I like the ergonomics of the s10 but feel it lacks in the corners. I don't see it holding up to prolonged use at redline which seems to be where the performance is. Love the bike but its a bit of a turd...
If you ever EVER take that bike off pavement and need to crawl along or climb a rocky hill you will know how ludicrous this comment was and laugh with the group.Hmm, probably. I still dream of the day where ST-10! Inline 4, 10k rpm redline, 140ish hp... just a dream for now.
Its a tar/gravel baby, , I just want to go fast, faster! High speed tractorInteresting way to start on a new forum. Is that even your bike in your avatar? Sounds like you may have bought the wrong bike if so.

In the meantime, thanks for the chuckle.
I came from the fz1 to the s10 for added comfort... miss the power. This all stems from late night beerscussion with a fellow s10 owner who was in agreement with me. More Ferrari less tractor... good conversation though, I like the ridicule as well!Lol that is how you know he doesnt own an s10.
The performance is low end grunt, not on the top of the rpm range. Curve is very flat on these bikes.
Once again, going by what I was told. . . . and IIRC it was CW. . . . that this motor likely came from another Yamaha product. Because, I was bitching about why would they put the oil filter as the first thing that's going to hit an obstacle. And, that's when he provided that tid bit of info. Made sense. Because I would have put it on the side, along with the radiator. That's where the FJ/FJR's oil filter is. But, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. . . . and definitely will not be the last.Don’t know how one could consider the Super Ténéré as a parts bin bike when it has an exclusive, purpose built engine, that’s not used in any other Yamaha.
Bahahahahhaha soo far off man! Some of you might need to brush up on your reading comprehension... s10 comfort for all day rideablity, more powerful engine for the madness! Thanks to those who helped. Super FJ Tenere coming soon... maybe.....You sound like a Harley guy who dumps five grand into the engine of his chrome plated Barca Lounger trying to make it as fast as an off the shelf sport bike that will still outperform it at half the price. I won't ask you why you'd pick "engine swap" as an alternative, because t
This guy is a clever chap to, he jammed a Busa motor into a GSXR600, built a inline 5 busa motor and is working on an inline 6 !Allen Millyard is the man you need to speak to. Hopefully Yamaha is watching and will fulfill the prophecy! Yamaha rules! \m/ and a couple grand to Jerry rig a death trap is money well spent! Still going to rip and ride till i get there... Have a great weekend people thanks for the repliesMy reading comprehension's fine, though your research skills may be lacking. You chose a bike that wouldn't do what you wanted it to do, when there were already bikes in production and available that would easily have fulfilled both your requirements for rideability and power. 10 minutes of googling would have steered you in the direction of a bike with comparable (or better) specs to your FZ1, whether it was a KTM 1290, a Multistrada 1200 Enduro, or even a BMW 1250GS, all of which could better provide your "more power" qualification than the Super Tenere. Frankensteining a Super Tenere is definitely a "B" solution.
Absolute kudos to Allen Millyard though. I've been following his Youtube channel for a while now, and what he accomplishes with a pretty minimalist workshop is incredible. His Kawasaki Super Six is a work of art. But if you had to pay him to do what he does for his own pleasure, you'd probably pay in the high five figures or maybe even six for one of his Frankenstein creations. Not really a viable alternative to "I want my bike to have more power".
Gotta say i do miss the B King for the shorter 250 - 350km day rides, the sheer grunt plus the occasional top end hit sigh...considered the 1290 KTooms but way too many $$$ + dodgy reliability.I came from the fz1 to the s10 for added comfort... miss the power. And a blower on top of that! Why not a turbo Super Ten!?
