I'd like to bring just one of my two options. The Tenere has the trailer hitch, but is fine for gravel and dirt like we had for Romney. For single tracks, hill climbing, and mud the hitch can hang the Tenere up, so there's the KTM 690.

I saw there are four routes published. Are they more of the former or latter? More folks gonna be on thumpers or big pigs?

There is a mix of machines. By my loose count - 2 or 3 FJRs, 4 Tenere (if you are one) and several thumpers including at least one other 690.

I can vouch for all but one reach that I've never ridden along the Cheat Shavers Fork on the Parsons loop after heading south from Parsons towards Elkins. With that exception, there is nothing on the published routes that I have not ridden on my Tenere...my hitchless Tenere. Mostly graded forest service roads though occasionally the grading is somewhat questionable mixed with varying stretches of pavement. Lots of paved one lane miles in there. They are true 50-50 surface dual sport loops about 200 miles each.

I made the routes pig friendly and there are plenty of choices for more or less gnarl if someone chooses to go exploring. I think you can be happy on either bike.

Count me in on a pig with 80 20 tires.
Looking forward to gravel roads
I've ridden much along these routes on the stock Battlewings when bike was new. All the routes are similar to what we rode to the south last time and you did that loaded w/ gear IIRC.

How difficult is it to remove and reinstall the hitch? I am coming in a toy hauler and truck and will have tools with me if that helps. Also, if you remove the hitch, you are welcome to lock it in the truck.

Awesome - I'll be there on the Tenere and just leave the hitch on. Gotta install new tires this weekend. Thanks

78YZ - It's not very difficult, as there are only four attach points, but with removal and reinstallation of the footpegs and shifter it is a nuisance.

Pack your rain gear. Could get bumpy Thurs afternoon. No clue which site I'll be on. I did not reserve one. I guess I'll find out tomorrow afternoon when I get there. I might be set up on site #4! ;)

I'm in area 2 and will have the 10x10 pop-up. Still not sure about what I'm bringing vehicle-wise.

I am in area 2 site 22. Before I load both bikes, I should probably ask if any of the rides will require a small bike. Are there any tight trail rides planned? ::017::

Works for me as I will wear ear plugs :)
Checks bring your Tenere so I can check it out. Really we need a small group to ride together.

Ok site #2, #4 and #22. All even numbers so I feel something great is going to happen this weekend.
We need to get together Thursday evening and make plans for Friday !!

The suggested routes (and they are only suggestions) all have reaches of wilderness but were put together with pigs in mind. So no on small bike "required" but ample opportunities are available if more challenge is desired.

I'm old, brittle and ride a pig so do not participate in tighter trails but glad to make point out opportunities along the way.

Hal if you have never been to Dolly Sods (one of the routes) be sure to visit while you are here. Perfect Tenere ride out of Holly River to a very unique place along the Allegheny Front. Pick a good weather day as the place makes it own weather when things are unsettled.

Friday's dual sport crew in the high country

FODS WV 2016 produced many vivid memories and I look forward to seeing and hearing the re-telling of the tales.
