So that annoying part of the bike where you let off the throttle and feel like you are going to go over the front tire has been resolved. A big shout out to Speedlab in Newmarket for doing my flash and Dyno tune, honestly feels like a new bike, and a much better one. The low speed first gear starts and stops in dirt are so much smoother and no more rapid deceleration when you let off the throttle. Sport mode really feels that way now, made me a little nervous even after a couple of starts. Knowing now what I do I should have had it done sooner but the past is the past so all I can do is encourage those that are thinking about it to get it done. I am a very satisfied customer and if you are in Ontario and looking for someone to do the work I would highly suggest them.

Hey, SQBB..pleased to hear you are enjoying your Super Tenere.
As I think I posted earlier, I'm now riding a 2020 Africa Twin DCT...lovin it!!
Performance wise, easily an equal to the Ten as it's lighter and has approximately the same torque.
Comfort wise, the Ten wins the prize.
Agility and handling, I'll take the AT.
Don't miss the clutch, but I also ride a Zuki DR650.

Got Speedlab to flash my stock 14. Very happy with the results.

Trailing throttle doesn't drop off a cliff now.

Transition from off to on is crisp, no more lag (which you really notice when it's gone).

Pulls cleaner doing roll on passes on hwy 7, I'm down shifting less.

Getting better mileage, even though I'm whacking the giggle switch more (I expect that to get better again as I go back to normal riding).

I'm having to relearn this bike for throttle, clutch, and turning, as there is a significant change to the balance. I was compensating in a bunch of ways for the bike, which are now very apparent. This is a very pleasant surprise, just makes me wish I'd had this done sooner.

The cooling fan engagement point has been lowered as well.

Find yourself a reputable shop to get this done, it is money very well spent. Matt at Speedlab owns a sooperten, so it's been his dyno bitch a lot, and it shows.

Totally agree, after about 8000km my mileage has improved from about 5.1 l/100km to 4.7 l/100km. Not huge but like you said I have been way harder on the throttle. And so much nice to ride now too. He did a great job and I highly recommend him.

OMG!!!...don't have any issues with my 2020 Africa Twin DCT model non adventure.....I busted thru 21,000 kms this afternoon, just lovin it.
I'm planning a September ride thru eastern Ontario, beginning in Stratford.
Haliburton highlands, and further east to who knows where.

if you are looking for GPX files of that area, let me know and i'll extract them from my tablet for you. i hand curated about 16000 kms of roads, offroad, forest trails, rail trails, etc and spent 2 weeks proving out a few of the loops.

Here is the after chart, I was looking for the before but can't seem to find it but will keep looking. It was fairly similar other than the HP being down about 3 HP. I will post it if I find it in the next couple of days.

Hey SSBB, do you have a ballpark price for this?Just picked up a 2016 thats totally stock and thinking about having this done. Did it lose any low end torque?

I think it was $250 for the flash and $300 for the Dyno, something like that. What Matthew told me was to ride the bike first to find out what I liked and didn't like. I hated the abrupt shut off when you let go of the throttle, found the low end a little twitchy, non linear and no real difference between Tour and Sport Mode. He fixed all of these issues, let off the throttle and you don't get sent through the windscreen anymore. Low end torque is super smooth and linear, predictable now. Huge difference between Tour and Sport now and I actually get marginally better mileage. I think I went from around 46 mpg to about 51, not a big difference but still positive and I did find that it ran a little cooler too although that was not much of an issue for me in the first place.
You don't have to get the tune done especially if you don't put on an exhaust or pipes but I have always found it helps with a consistent fuel delivery and that makes it more predictable.

Mostly because of the abrupt deceleration when backing off the throttle. Much worse than any other bike I have owned, I think I will be looking in to getting it flashed sooner than later...

That's his opinion, and he's welcome to it. My opinion/suggestion is just spend some more time in town riding. You'll be amazed how quickly your wrist "recalibrates". Gas and clutch, learn the gray area.
