Wow, and to think I didn't like riding my FJR on bumpy pavement.

Looks like something you do to a bike owned by a guy you really disliked.

I took my FJR off-roading a few times, but nothing that extreme. He had to have dual-sport tires on it because street tires never would have made that hill climb. He stops at one point and you can hear the rear tire spinning as he tries to get going again. He would have been dead in the water at that point with street tires. Nice riding though. He obviously doesn't give a shit about his FJR.

Don't know why but I get the feeling that may not have been his bike.

That is a Gen 1 bike in the video (you can tell by the clocks). So, given that it seems to be shot in Japan, that bike is at most a 2005-2006 model.

Gen I was 2003 - 2005, so it can't be a 2006. My guess is that it's an older bike that already has a few scratches on it and the guy just doesn't care anymore.

I wondered the same thing about dual sport tires and don't think so.
The rear tire is partially visible and can be enhanced at 10:18, 11:35, and 12:45.
Looks like the stock Bridgestone.

Being Japan, that makes sense, as their safety inspections are strict. I think (not sure) they are one of the countries that require staying with OEM tires unless there is a special inspection and permission.

To pass inspection, the tires just have to be street legal and tread above the wear marks.

Well that's extra impressive then. I didn't know Graham Jarvis has a thing for FJR's and frequents Japan. ::013::

That is one determined dude. I've taken lots of unsuitable bikes to foolish places, but he wins. My old FZ was surprisingly good off road, but that's why it was replaced by the Tenere....too easy to whack the pipes and engine.

He gets points for perseverance, but not sense.
