I have one but I can't think of the model at the moment...I'll have to look at it when I get home but that looks like the one I have. I've had it for 2 years and really like it - no problems. I had a Joe Rocket and Tourmaster mesh previously and I like the fit of this one the best. Note that FG jackets tend to run really large as compared to other brands which is one reason I like them. Best try one on for size if you can.

I'm long-waisted so the 3/4 long jackets are what I always end up having to buy.

I bought one used for fifty bucks a few years ago, no problems unless it starts raining then you have zip in the liner which helps but is far from water proof. Recently I bought a Joe Rocket jacket to go over the mesh, kind of a double jacket affair. If it going to be cool in the morning or looks like rain, I put the Rocket on over the mesh, it's warm and water proof. After it gets hot I remove the Rocket jacket and leave the mesh on. The mesh remains with the padding for protection.

I bought this same jacket last year. I really like it. I'm in Redding, CA and it is 100+ here in the summer. I think the jacket is very good quality. It is a little heavy for a mesh jacket but, still flows air well. I think there is a waterproof liner but, I don't use it. I have another jacket for cooler or wet weather. I'm 6' 220lbs and ended up with a large which fits perfect.

I don't have that jacket, but I have a different First Gear mesh jacket that uses the same material. The weave is very tight, so it's really more like a very very breathable jacket, as opposed to a traditional 'feel the wind like it isn't even there' kind of thing. They are very well built, and IMO are better in extreme heat than a free-air mesh product. If it's over 93 or so, you don't want that air blowing on you, as it's doing more harm than good. My plan of attack in extreme heat in this jacket is to wear (2) t shorts, and soak them both with water then ride. I can make it almost 150 miles in 100+ heat before the cooling effect is completely gone with this jacket. With my previous mesh jacket, it was about 40 miles.

Hope this helps a little.

I wear a First Gear mesh jacket fairly often being out in the desert. I like the removable liner as I sometimes need it in the cooler mornings but can remove it as it warms up.

Some people wear a mesh jacket and put a rain jacket over it when it gets cooler and/or rains.

That'd be me. I have a similar mesh jacket for DC summers, when our forecast is 90s and 25-30% chance of rain every day. I keep a FroggTog 2 piece rain suit in the top box for when the 30% becomes 100%.

I have a First Gear Mesh Tex and when it's in the 90's, sunny and relatively low humidity, at highway speeds it wears me down pretty quickly. All that hot air just dries you out, you have to stay super hydrated and maybe a light non-mesh jacket would be better. I liken it to walking around in Vegas mid-day, you're not visibly sweating but you are getting dehydrated faster than you realize.

This is my plan - get a froggtog set to wear over the mesh suit.

If you would be okay with a red or blue Firstgear Mesh jacket, you can pick one up here for $80:

I just bought one of the red ones and it's pretty nice.
